huntinsonovagun
I think electronic calls are gimmics. They may work, but you won't catch me using one, unless for varmints or crows. You can do just as much with a good grunt call (H.S. True Talker), rattling horns (or bag...several reputable manufacturers), and maybe a "CAN" call (Made by Primos). Tons of advantages of calls such as these. First, cost.....much cheaper than electronic. Second, vesitility.....start and stop sounds when you want, not when the CD stops....good way to get busted by a deer IMO. Size.....easier to carry a grunt call around your neck and a CAN in your fanny pouch than a bulky radio. Lastly (and certainly not least) batteries. Hate to have a monster barely out of range and batteries are dead. Just something else that can go wrong. These are just my own personal views. Oh yeah....welcome to Realtree
AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Electronic deer calls Yeah they are outlawed in Michigan and I'm glad. I think its a lot of fun trying to use a grunt call with your mouth or rattle horns with your hands. I just think pushing a button has made hunting a bit too lazy. I seen calls like that in Cabela's and it just takes away from the hunting part of hunting. Just my opinion. Lou
Tominator
Re: Electronic deer calls i've never had an interest in them personally. i think they might be illegal in Ohio, but i'm not sure of that
snapper
Re: Electronic deer calls Only legal for varmint hunting here, not deer!
wtnhunt
Re: Electronic deer calls Dont think they are legal here either, but if you think it may help you in drawing in deer to photograph them it may be worth trying. Have pretty good luck here with a plain old grunt call. Welcome to the forums.
GWSmith
Re: Electronic deer calls [ QUOTE ] May want to check your stateslaws. Here in Michigan i am almost positive you can't use electronic game calls for hunting whitetails. Just something to look into. [/ QUOTE ] I'm pretty sure its the same way here in New York as well.....strange how they sold them at a local sporting goods store and the one for Whitetail Deer are all gone...but you can find any of the other ones that are made. I frequent that store alot and I watched that display dwindle down from a couple rows of them to one row then down to just a couple left...then all gone. You think they are all going to be used for the "Novelty Factor" or do you think that some may find their way into the deer woods......Right...exactly what I thought. Ironic that they are even allowed to be sold in a state where they are not legal to be used. BTW I dont own one in case your wondering....I just have this thing about being LEGAL
