Guest fishermanwhohunts
What do I do. What equipment beside weapon? How do I find deer? How do I get permission to hunt somebodys land and possibly make food plot on it?
MichiganHuntr1
Some Basics for you Do you want to hunt with bow? Gun? Or Both? Decide that first...then Get a hunting guide from your local kiosk, so you can learn on your states rules and regulations. Of course youre gonna need some land to hunt, there may be public land you can hunt on near you, but private is better. Go spotting for deer one evening, and on the land where you see deer, stop and see if the owner will let you. Ask Nicely, but if they say no, oh well, try on other peoples land They may let you put a plot on, maybe..you have to ask. Gear wise, get stuff that will keep you warm, and it all depends your liking for me to say anything else. You dont want to be cold, trust me. The best way to find deer is to go out and look, look for scraped up trees, tracks, poop, fur, worn trails, anything that hints a deer has been there. Go where you think or have saw deer travel before. The best way to learn about deer is to go in the woods. When you get your weapon, practice before you go out and try to kill one. The worst thing you can do is wound one. If youre not confident that you can kill it with one shot, somethings wrong. I hope i helped you some, and others will chime in I hope as well. Guest fishermanwhohunts
Re: Some Basics for you How do I find out who owns it? In my neck of the woods farmers and hunters alike own hundreds of acres. And most of the deer I have spotted in areas along the roads nearest to me, my dad said he heard the people don't let any body hunt on it. I'm Planning on Bowhunting
MichiganHuntr1
Re: Some Basics for you Get a plat book, or parcel book, whatever you call it. This is a book that states how many acres the owner has, where his land is, and his name. Ill look up some info tomorrow on the internet for your county tomorrow, see if i can find you a link to a plat book for your county. Right now, im going to bed. Or simply on the land you want to hunt, if there is a house, go up to their front door and ask them to hunt their land, the worst they can say is no. MichiganHuntr1
Re: Some Basics for you Okay, Stands are better in scent control. If you can afford it, buy clothing with scent blocker technology in them. Or Just buy a carbon spray. I couldnt find anything on the internet for a plat book for your county. Try calling your courthouse for their register of deeds. Or, Just ask around for land. Thats the easy way.
