Tominator
My Legacy still has the original string and cable on it that's over 3 years old now I think. I just had it down to the proshop and the guy who always works on my bow said it was just fine. The string I have is a Zebra twist. If your string was kept waxed and out of freezing temps, and direct sunlight and rarely shot, I think that string should be perfectly fine. There's a lot of different kinds of strings out there, and some are made from different materials that stretch, and deteriorate quicker than others. My suggestion to you would be to take it to a proshop and have them look at it and get their opinion on it. If you notice a lot of fraying or even strands breaking, it's time to replace that string. Guest tyshe17
Re: Bow string replacement question. As long as you dont let your string dry out (keep it out of areas of drastic temp change like the garage or atick) and maintain it (keep it waxed) they last. I have seen them go 10+ years and look brand new. I have also seen people who shoot a lot dont do anything to them and replace them every year. Its not hard, and it keeps you from having to waste time setting peeps and center shots.
Guest foulmouthfool
Re: Bow string replacement question. Of course on your bow I doubt there is a problem, but you can usually look at a string and tell if it needs to be replaced. Things to look for is fraying, cut or broken strings.........those are obvious. What a lot of people fail to check is the serving around the ends of the string, and the string where it rolls on and off the cams or wheels. Any sign of wear in there and I say you should go ahead and replace the string even if the rest of it looks great. Also, I recommend a good quality custom made, PRE-STRETCHED string. There are many good custom strings out there, just do a search.
