Jeramie
I was at Basspro in Springfield yesterday. I needed a new target and the only Blackhole they had on display was $80+. I literally had about 5-minutes because they were closing. I picked up a $35 Redhead layered target. It says "Anypoint, any arrow." Has anyone ever shot a BH into one of these thing? I honestly have no idea how good the target is. I was just curious about everyones experiences with the target.
ranchand99
Re: Redhead Layered Target? I hope it works for you.I was going to buy one but the archery guy at BPS here told me it wasn't that good for bows shooting over 260.It does look good though doesn't it? huntrman
Re: Redhead Layered Target? I was also really considering this target, but have held off for now, might just spend the extra and get something a little better. Tell us how it goes! tedicast
Re: Redhead Layered Target? I don't have any experience with the target at all. Not too long ago, I can't remember which forum it was on, a member bought one, and was totally unhappy with it. I can't remember the details, just remember thinking that I won't be buying one myself. Jeramie
Re: Redhead Layered Target? I actually shot it for the first time last night. It did fine. I really think I was going a little deep at 20 yards though. It never went to the fletching but it went deep. I was shooting some groups and the only time the fletching touched the target was when to arrows were touching. The first gaped the foam a little and the second went almost fletching deep. I shot about 150 shots through it last night and it looks fine. I dont see any damage. Ill keep flinging arrows at it all this week. Ill let you all know how it does. I havent tried BH's in it yet. That will come in about a month.
too_pointer
Re: Redhead Layered Target? I have the Black Hole, and wouldn't buy another one. It is a bear to pull arrows out of it, and bh's really take the poll . I think I would try the " yellow jacket " next. too_
tedicast
Re: Redhead Layered Target? Jeramie...BH's will take their toll rather quickly on any layered foam target. The Yellow Jacket Broafhead Target, at $35 is well worth it. It holds up much better than the block, or black hole, or a 3d target to bh's
spyderpancake
Re: Redhead Layered Target? I just bought one last week, and it is fine with field points. At 15 yards it penetrates pretty deep with a tight group, but still has a few inches before fletching contact.
ranchand99
Re: Redhead Layered Target? That's what I was talking about arrow speed, when they are faster than 260 they start diggin' in too deep.Broadheads will surely make it worse. The 4x4 is an awesome looking block style target, and the exterior layer keeps the insides from coming out when you pull the arrow out.
