Re: Broadheads

I used spitfires one year, and took one buck with them. I hit the deer right in the shoulder blade, clipped the top of his heart, and nearly severed his windpipe. The deer died within 15 seconds I'd say, about 40 yards from my stand.

The arrow did not pass through, but I attribute that to hitting the shoulder blade.

Re: Broadheads

I used the 100gr snypers the past two years, and my friend used the 100gr spitfire xp last year.I have used the spitfire 125gr on a crossbow, and a 100gr spitfire with my bow 3 years ago.I would pick the snyper over the spitfire without blinking. The spitfires are ok,but sometimes only 2 of 3 blades open on quartering shots.Just my experiences.I used the shockwaves, but they aren't near as sharp as the spitfires.Spitfires are definately the best mechanical that NAP makes. Both fly really good, both fly just like field tips,I just like the way the snypers function.Snypers, and spitfires are both sharp.Hope I helped. wink.gif

Re: Broadheads

I've used the 100 grain Spitfires and Shockwaves. Both fly great and will do their job if shot is placed well, but the Shockwave gets through bone better than the Spitfire does, just in case. There are so many quality mechas on the market today it's unbelieveable.

That being said, I switched to fixed blade Slick Trick 100's this year. 4 blades, 1 1/8" cut ( over 2" of cutting diameter since it's a 4 blade), and the y fly EXACTLY like my field points and will fly just as good as any mechanical head on the market, hands down.

Re: Broadheads

okay here is my thing for mechanicals. i shoot them almost exclusively and have for a long time. i shoot the rocket steelheads and you can't and won't find a better head out there. this is not a ploy it is the truth. the 2nd best in my arsenal is the snyper from rocky mountain and 3rd the rocky mountain gators but i use them for turkey great cutting surface and does a job on turkey necks lol

if you go and shoot the rockets you will see why i shoot them, i can cross the t's and dot the i's with them and that is not a joke or funny it is the truth. i will put them up against any mechanical out there. if you decide to go to a fixed head again then i would say the toughest little head i have found and my testing them as well as 5star shows the american broadhead the sonics are the best there is for a 3 blade cut on impact and slams the 1x4 and pentrates farther than any other broadhead of both types there is and blew thru a 55 gal drum steel by the way and never even bent or broke a blade and they have the best locking system for their blades on the market and no i am not on their shooting staff but if they offered i would go there toot sweet. take a look at them all but try them if you can and you will see i tell the truth

i am not bragging i am saying how it is

Re: Broadheads

The spitfires worked well for me, I dont know why but I went to Muzzy's this year, I guess I wanted the challenge of getting them to fly stright. It didnt take much and I am happy with them, but like I said the spitfires are great for faster bows (it takes about 20lbs to open them)

Re: Broadheads

I have been shooting the Rocket 100 gr Steel heads as well, but I'm not impressed with their screw length on this broadhead. It seems that they could be another 1/4" longer at the very least!! I'm seriously thinking of switching to the 100 gr Slick-Trick heads, but I've been reading that their blades could be a much sharper? Any truth to that??? confused.gif

Re: Broadheads

Shoot the spitfires and you will be on here after your first deer telling us about how you have never seen a deer go down faster.

You will also be telling us about the unbelievable blood trail you witnessed.

I will bet you a pack of spitfires on that wink.gif

Re: Broadheads

I know a girl named Vicky that bags bear after bear with a 48 - 50# bow and spitfires.

The hype on the high K.E. side of the exspandable argument is over hype for nearly every head now a days.
