CDubWSR
hey guys, i have a female friend that moved here from kansas a few years ago. she recently told me that her family back home owns thousands of acre ranches in western kansas and that there are lots of big mule deer there. i tried going to the kansas wildlife department website to see what all it would take for me to get a license and tag, but i didnt really understand the process and the different options. so my question is, do any of you guys know what it takes for a nonresident hunter to get a license and a tag if they are hunting private property? do i have to apply and hope to get drawn, or is it possible for me to just buy over the counter? or is there a way for the landowner to get a tag for me somehow? thanks for your help guys. colin
whitetailtrax
Re: Anybody from western Kansas??? I grew up in Western Kansas but moved from there many years ago. There are certainly some good bucks out there, but they aren't everywhere. As for permits, up until 10 or 15 years ago, even residents weren't gauranteed a deer permit (hard to believe). That has changed though now and out-of-staters are welcome but I believe you have to enter a drawing. Someone else could better explain that to you - I really haven't looked into it myself lately. I'm curious what town she was from?
