Guest RJK
What is a good smooth bore slug load? I have been hearing alot about the Federal TruBall, anyone shot it yet, what did you think?
lil hunter
Re: Slug loads Try a few in your gun and see what is most accurate. Foster slugs are pretty cheap, so you won't have to spend too much. I don't know anything about the TruBall. But any rifled slug will work with a smoothbore. As long as you don't shoot sabots you'll be ok. My personal favorite slug is a Remington Slugger.

maddhunter
Re: Slug loads I shot some Winchester Super X rifled slugs the other day and was very impressed, at 40 yrds they hit the same excact hole every time. 75 yards 1" groups with open sights. Rem. 12ga, 3 inch, 1oz rifled slugs, through a modified choke.

bulldawg
Re: Slug loads Brenneke 2 3/4", 1 1/8 oz slugs.. They hit like a sledgehammer. A little more per box, but they sure pack a whollop. In my 1100, they are dead on out to 90 yards.
David_218
Re: Slug loads Most of the smooth bore "Foster" slugs are about the same ballistically. There are a few imported slugs intended for smooth bores that might work a little better. One just has to buy several brands and see which one shoots the best in their shotgun. Besure to use an "Open Choke".
