and I'm still addicted to this place. So many people here that I've never met but actually consider them some of my closest friend. I've prayed for people that I don't even know their first names and I have asked these same people to pray for me or my family. I sat here closely watching struggles that my RT friends have gone thru and actually worrying about them. My wife thinks it's weird---I don't know--maybe she's right but if your not a member here you just don't understand.

I've got so many friend/relationships that there is no way I can mention them all but the one that stands out the most to me in my short 3 years:

A guy I've never met---I started following his health issues shortly after I really got involved. A teacher, a great family guy with young kids struggling with cancer---numerous surgeries. I felt his pain, and felt his broken heart of wondering if he's going to get to see his kids grow up?--will he ever know his grandkids?.. I cried more than once for that guy as I know a lot of you fellow members did. We all thought he was home free for a while then a recheck blood work confirmed that the cancer was back or was not all surgically removed. You could almost feel the tone or mood of many members as they responded to his post. It was like our own brother was going through this. His current doctor wanted to send him to MD Anderson in Houston. His finances were tough---this is when I realized that this was a really special place. I don't remember who started it but a little "fund" was started to help out a little with the expenses---I couldn't believe all the people that jumped in to help with expenses-- 5 bucks here, 10 bucks there--I thought "There are really some special people on this place." Fortunately he found a local surgeon who was able to perform the surgery...and as far as I know he is cancer free.

He wanted to send all the money back since he was not traveling to Houston---as best as I can remember noone wanted the money back. It was like--spend it on the kids, go buy some huntin' stuff, take the wife out to dinner. More unbelievable stuff from complete strangers that you wouldn't recognize if you crossed them on the street.

Tominator----I hope you don't mind me sharing your story for some of the newbies. I don't think it is a secret since most of us know it. I might not have ALL the facts perfect but I think it's close--but I just wanted to share my most memorable/touching experience of my 3 years here----and you are it! Chris---I hope someday I will have the strength you have. I don't know if I ever will but you are one HECK of a guy and in all rights a HERO!

oh yea---I think i answer about 20 to 30 vet questions a month---i consider this my free civic duty grin.gif

God Bless You All and God Bless our troops!

You da man Todd. That sure is one touching post, and I know Chris will be very touched when he reads it. It sure is amazing how close of friends all of us are, and we haven't met everyone in person! This sure is the best site on the net, and I hope someday we'll all get the chance to have one huge get together so all of us can meet!

Congratulations on the 10K Todd. The forums wouldn't be the same without you buddy! cool.gif

..............DOGDOC'S LAMENT (not)....................

I'm up in the morning,

just thinking of you dear.

Then it's off to the office,

to fix some poor dogs ear.

My lovely, sweet Tricia,

you must understand,

Just all that's involved,

to be a good man.

.

.

It's the land that is calling,

when I'm finished up there,

so I go to the farm,

and I check for deer hair.

It isn't that I'm,

never thinking of you.

Just need some still moments,

more than a few too.

.

.

I lose track of time,

as I'm wanderin around.

even saw a few hogs,

and put one on the ground.

Oh this beautiful land,

hey, I'm thinking of you.

All this fresh pork tastes great,

in a nice bowl of stew.

.

.

I hussle right back,

with you still on my mind.

That's when I noticed,

my tattered deer blind.

It's off to the barn,

to get me some nails,

get her fixed up real quick,

and maybe shift a few bales.

.

.

I'm on my way home dear,

just you wait and see,

If my memory is right,

huntin shows on TV.

There's so much to do,

and I never did factor,

that it's been a while,

since I started the tractor.

.

.

I look cross the opening,

and what do I see.

That widow-maker has fallen,

gotta buck up a tree.

I'm coming, I'll be there,

I'll be home on time.

by the Looks of this field,

I think it needs lime.

.

.

These food plots look greener,

than ever before.

It won't be too long now,

I'll be at the door.

Just try to be patient,

we have a great bond.

Oh geesh, that reminds me,

catch fish from the pond.

.

.

I love you my Tricia,

you know that it's true.

But right now, I'm tryin,

to catch me a few.

Hey..look at this antler,

how the-heck do I score em.

when I get on home,

I'll need to visit the forum.

.

.

I think I'll clean up now,

and head for the truck.

Well Look way out there,

at that beauty big buck.

Grab my camera, I'm crawlin,

what's happened to me.

I'll get a great picture,

if I'm up on one knee.

.

.

I'm headin for home now,

I just know that I'm late.

Pretty sure that the family,

has all up and ate.

Better stop by the roadside,

and pick her some flowers.

Will ya look at those clouds there,

tomorrow it's showers.

.

.

Home now and entering,

she's not looking my way.

I guess that's a good sign,

cause I'll live one more day.

I love you sweet Tricia,

my cute baby buntin.

Man, just can't wait til fall,

when I get to go huntin.

Congratulations on the milestone Todd and its guys like you that drew me to this forum. I was a lurker in the shadows for a while before I joined and just seeing what you guys talked about showed me how much you care for one another even though everyone is spread out across the country.

This place has a great group of guys and gals and that's what makes reaching milestones like Todd just achieved that easy!! smile.gif
