Tominator
All the trading and dealing of NHL players is dizzying. As predicted, Roenick just got dealt to the Kings. Tough to keep up with all this. Haven't seen the Wing acquire anyone. I guess they'll be dumping salary more than acquiring it.
MUDRUNNER
Re: Makes Yo\' Head Spin, Eh? You got that right. It is looking like a lot of high payroll teams are getting rid of a few high profile players. It is starting to look the teams should really pretty equal in talent this year. VermontHunter
Re: Makes Yo\' Head Spin, Eh? I think it's about time the Bruins picked up a great offensive defenseman....They have been lacking in this position since Bourques departure.... This should be very interesting year for the Bruins...

I guess in the long run, the league will be more fair. Even though I'm a Wings fan, I must admit, their last couple Cups were bought and paid for. I don't like that mentality in sports. Seems to me the salary cap sports have an even playing field which leaves just about every team with a chance, so you never know. I guess, my crazy face was the realization that I don't know how my Wings will fare this year. See, there it goes again.
buckbuster11
Re: Makes Yo\' Head Spin, Eh? Its going to be a few months into the season before I can fully figure out who is playing where. All I know is the Penguins got Crosby and signed Gonchar and I'm loving it.

They're gonna be tough. The 'lanche Losing Forsberg was big, but the signed Hedjuk so I'm happy. Plus, they have the best player in the N in Sakic, and they always produce their won talent, so I'm not worried.
superguide
Re: Makes Yo\' Head Spin, Eh? Keenan trying to recreate the Leafs or what-nobody wins without a North American stud D-man which Sergei Gonchar sure isn't-I honestly think Philly has given up more than they've got this year too. muggs
Re: Makes Yo\' Head Spin, Eh? what about the Avalanche and Ozilinch (spellling??) they won the cup and key was an anchor on the blue line.
superguide
Re: Makes Yo\' Head Spin, Eh? What about Bourque and Adam Foote-I haven't seen a european D-man yet that would make a forward want to miss a shift.
SaskMan
Re: Makes Yo\' Head Spin, Eh? Superguide, are you related to Don Cherry? I will confess to having always been an Islander and Penguin fan since I was kid. I do also remeber a very dominant Pittsburg team in the early 90's that won not only with Mario and Jagr but with 3 important Euro dmen on the blue line. One guy was quarter back, fellow named Zubov and the other was a pesky little bugger, likely did make some guys want to miss a shift. Most hate him.....Kasperitus. The 3rd, Ulf Samuelsson another guys hated playing against. Come to think of it, I think Kjell Samuelsson played then too. There is a team that won without a North American stud. I by the way think Gonchar is a great player, if I were a NHL manager and could have any 4 dmen, he'd be one of them.

muggs
Re: Makes Yo\' Head Spin, Eh? Lidstrom might be the best call of all those. BTW- Bourque wasn't around for the ave's first cup, just Ozilinch
superguide
Re: Makes Yo\' Head Spin, Eh? But Foote was there-if you like regular season flash go fly european but if you like playoff warriors you go Canadian-Detroit won their cups on the backs of Stevie Y,Draper,Shannahan. superguide
Re: Makes Yo\' Head Spin, Eh? Tominator here's a tough one-whose the best Redwing of all time Stevie Y or Gordie Howe. Both those guys sweat more class than 90 percent of those money hungry team jumpers. You have to respect Ty Domi for signing with the Leafs for half a million a year less than he was offered. Nice to see it's not all about the money for everybody.
SaskMan
Re: Makes Yo\' Head Spin, Eh? [ QUOTE ] Both those guys sweat more class than 90 percent of those money hungry team jumpers [/ QUOTE ] I can't speak for Gordie Howe but I can say that one time a kid from Kyle, Saskatchewan ran into the Red Wings team in Banff Alberta on some days off. Every single one of those players was nice enought to sign an autograph for that kid, everyone except for great old Stevey Y that is. How do I know this is true? That kid was me. Paul Coffey was a class guy, so was Dino Ciccarelli (maybe not at times in his life) but nobody in my eyes came across more as an egotistical jerk than Yzerman. So I guess I'd have to go with Gordie Howe.
muggs
Re: Makes Yo\' Head Spin, Eh? Yeah, Foote is a hard-nosed warrior. But without an offensively skilled D man QBing the PP and leading the rush, that team wouldn't have been the same. But I'd take an all around guy like Pronger over Sandish anyday. BTW- I'm really surprised no one has brought up Al MacInnis yet, in my opinion, him and Bourque are the best all around defenseman I've seen. Funny how one meeting can sour you on a person. A buddy and I met Bob Foulkrod once, what a jerk, but maybe he was having a bad day, but I only have one thing to remember him by, and that is that he was a jerk that day. Howe's day was different than today's free agent market I think, given that, hmmmmmm, that's still a tough one.... I'll whimp oooot and say Sawchuck. superguide
Re: Makes Yo\' Head Spin, Eh? Yeaand I guess he had a personality second to none too-but in all fairness he was a goalie lol. Ok we'll put Stevie at center Gordie on right wing -who goes on the left.
SaskMan
Re: Makes Yo\' Head Spin, Eh? I like going back to this post. I agree that Al Macinnis was one of the best d men of his time. I also like this post b/c of the country debate. I'm not for or against any one country. Yes I cheer for Canada but I think there are good players out of many countries. Here is a ? for Superguide. Would Tampa Bay have won the last cup without Khabibulin and whatever the Russian's name is who scored both their goals in the 7th and deciding game?? Or would New Jersey have been as tough to beat without that skilled Czech, Elias? They had alot of horses but he did lead them in scoring, regualar season and playoffs.
