markyj987
This is something that's been in the news for a long time. However, it only took me the first few lines of this story to tick me off. Why on God's green earth is anyone even TRYING to negotiate with Iran. They should be DEMANDING that Iran comply. Of course, I must be in dreamland because the UN doesn't have the guts to do anything meaningful. --------- Partial story from Yahoo news --------- EU3 aim to give Iran nuclear proposals Friday By Madeline Chambers and Paul Hughes Thu Aug 4, 5:10 PM ET Britain, France and Germany aim to hand over new proposals to Iran on Friday for economic and political cooperation meant to persuade Tehran to abandon all activities which might be used to make a nuclear bomb. The three countries are also planning to call a meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) -- the U.N.'s nuclear watchdog -- early next week to warn Tehran against restarting sensitive nuclear work, diplomats said. Iran, which says it is losing patience with EU negotiators, repeatedly threatened this week to resume uranium processing, a move that would end two years of talks and could lead to its referral to the U.N. Security Council for possible sanctions.
slugshooter
Re: Negotiating with Iran Here's my thing. Iran is a terrorist nation, like the rest of the middle east. Them having "democratic" elections two months ago is like the elections in Iraq, basically pointless since the Ayatollahs run the country anyway. What's the point in being elected President in a country where the Grand Ayatollah can dismiss you if you make fun of his beard. That said. Maybe Iran wants nuclear power for just what they claim, to have a nuclear power plant, maybe they want it to have nuclear capabilities. Whatever the reason, I don't believe in other countries being able to impose their will, views, or beliefs on another country.
johnf
Re: Negotiating with Iran I hate to point out the obvious here, but do these people really think that Iran isn't already actively working toward nuclear whepons. I think negotions should go like this. "Stop or We'll negotiate like the US negotiated with Sadam." And then follow through with it of course. robk
Re: Negotiating with Iran ok first off look who is trying to get tough with iran. that is the first weak link to the problem. 2ndly you have two nations who have been conquered more than any other country out there in both france and germany. we're talking way back tot he day of the roman empire. then you have my favorite guy tony blair and he is the only one with the cahones to do anything and if he tries then the french and germans will whine and say it isn't right now i say to you and i know this is always going to make some people pissed off but the country of england needs to drop the other two and ask the good old us of a and i know brother gwb will lend a hand since we're already over there and then they can get irans attrention. we have a tendency tpo make people and countries to pick up those ears and listen for the big whistle and the boom that follows iran is another country like iraq who is bathed inthe crazy folks of world club and believe as do the other groups that promote terrorism. we need to help england out and tony is number 1 in my book and we need to let people know this is going to stop or the big boo9m will wake your sorry **** up in a hurry rob k this should just about end the strife they are trying to wreeck rob k
7th
Re: Negotiating with Iran robk, I hate to say this but smarter heads was thinking when we went into Iraq and there was something more then just getting insain out of office. well we got alot of what we was looking for with this war, before you go nuking the warld. think about what it is going to cost. lets let the ones that get paid to think about things like this do there jobs before you go putting us into something we are not ready to do. Sorry to put this like this but I am setting ware I know things that most people in the US don't have the insite that I do. I do hope we can do this with out getting ground troops in on it. Just my $.02 Frank.

The UN needs to step up, but they wont. They will rely on us to do what is needed to be done just as has been in the past. The UN is a joke. [/ QUOTE ] Not likely there Gunny, it's too dang cold up there for me. I still got Florida blood running through my veins. If I move anywhere it'll be somewhere in the islands, on a little canal, in a thatched hut, with no TV and radio. Of course, I'd probably lose my mind because of my insatiable news thirst. I been wondering though Slugo, do you drive a VW Beetle with a sunflower on your dash and a rainbow sticker on your back window and a peace symbol on your bumper. If you're one of the fortunate few who still live in a country that hasn't faced the horror of a terrorist attact that resulted in mass civilian casualties, then you just don't have the right perspectives to judge this war. When you see you friends and neighbors being murdered for no other reason than the fact that they live in a free nation, you might change your mind about what constitutes right and wrong when it comes time to deal with the perpetrators. Don't you wish it was that easy? I mean wouldn't it be great if the gay rights activists and abortion rights activists and the Arab rights activists just got sick of us who believe in the "Right" thing just leave ....that would be too good!
