BuckNrut
I've found that the deer "funnel" through the bean fields. I like to setup 10yds off where I know they enter/exit the fields (does) or further back in the hardwoods (bucks). Pay attention to foreground/background cover as the leaves fall. Tominator
Re: best tactic hunting soybean fields [ QUOTE ] I hunt Ohio in late november during the gun season I have hunted this land acouple of years ago with no luck am I making abig deal out of nothing [/ QUOTE ] Where in Ohio? In 99% of the cases, all the beans are off come gun season here. Sitting in the middle of a picked bean field seems pretty silly. I don't know your situation, but if you're limited to just the field, hang towards some cover like a field line or drainage ditch or some sort of cover like that. Give us some more information on your area and maybe we can help you more.
Tominator
Re: best tactic hunting soybean fields [ QUOTE ] I hunt in southwestern ohio in warren county, the farm that I hunt is 90% field. The balance has a lot of undergrowth alot of young trees not many good trees to place a stand [/ QUOTE ] That's some tough hunting. I'd wait for windy days and to a spot and stalk. [/ QUOTE ] I agree with his answer. The deer here where I hunt will basically move into the bean fields. I have found more trails through the beanfields than any other field. When I hunt any kind of field I try to move away. I look for some trails leading into and out of the fields. I call these deer highways. A trail moving into the field and out of the field. Set up on these trails. Deer will be very nervous being out in a big field. They will be more comfortable in the woods. So hunt the trails going in and out of the bean fields. Good luck CASEY
Guest deldeer
Re: best tactic hunting soybean fields if you don't have good trees for a stand i would opt. for a ground blind around the undergrowth, but not to close to the trails. get an idea of the prevailing wind in the area, & set up with that in mind. also i learned something from the farmer where we hunt, that the deer prefer the soft leaves of the soybean plant, not the bean its self. so in the fall when the plant turns brown, i started scouting those fields for patches of clover or old winter wheat that was starting to grow in between the rows.....bam!!!! thats what the deer were eating. good luck
wtnhunt
Re: best tactic hunting soybean fields Dont know, but our lablab plus plots are getting hammered by deer and turkeys right now. Think I may leave them in and overseed, hand broadcast in some winter wheat and rye this fall.
