ACLU – Arab Civil Liberties Union

The ACLU has filed a lawsuit to stop the random searches of bags on New York City subways and busses. And so yesterday, the New York Civil Liberties Union filed a lawsuit to stop it. Their contention is that the policy violates the Constitution's prohibition against unlawful search and seizure.

The ACLU says that the next thing we know they'll be profiling! Hey, take a lesson from the Brit’s – profiling isn’t a good idea, but it is a necessity in todays world! Can you imagine the laughs we’re getting from these terrorists when they see security officers searching blue-haired old ladies?

I’ve said in the past that one day many Americans are going to die because of “political correctness”. Now, with the help of the ACLU, I am certain many will die because out of fear that someone will be offended.

Can we now assume that the ACLU doesn’t stand for American Civil Liberties Union but rather for Arab Civil Liberties Union?

Re: ACLU – Arab Civil Liberties Union

OK. I'll take the bait, since ya'll have dangled it so obviously in front of me. The ACLU is resonsible for some of the most important civil rights legislation in this country. If it weren't for the ACLU we'd still have segregated school districts, and the only people allowed to run anything would be white male protestants. That said, I don't agree with everything the ACLU does, but the Constitution does guarantee the right to be free from unreasonable search and seizure, the question that has to be answered is what constitutes unreasonable. Is pulling someone out of line and subjecting him to a full body cavity search unreasonable, in my book yes, unless there is a court order directing such action, but having to open your bag is nothing new, heck, people have been doing it for years, 20 years ago you had to open your bag to get into the US Capitol building, some things change, and some things stay the same. Unfortunately, the "USA PATRIOT Act" has blurred the line between unreasonable and warranted and enables the government to do what they want regardless of guilt or innocence. Nobody has a problem with what the USA PATRIOT Act allows the government to do, as long as it isn't them, but I suspect when their rights have been violated, some will.

And if it weren’t for the ACLU, immigrants wouldn’t have more rights than citizens.

And if it weren’t for the ACLU, the “tough on crime” bill may have been effective but now the prisoner has more rights than the law abiding citizen.

Thanks goes out to the ACLU for all but taking God out of our society but making it possible for alternative Gods to be introduced into society. ie. Allah

We also need to thank the ACLU for tying up our court systems with stupid lawsuits.

We have to thank the ACLU for sticking up for our 2nd Amendment rights also – declaring before congress that the individual’s right to bear arms applies only to the preservation or efficiency of a well-regulated militia. Except for lawful police and military purposes, the possession of weapons by individuals is not constitutionally protected. Therefore, there is no constitutional impediment to the regulation of firearms.

We also need to thank the ACLU for preventing the AARP from becoming a terrorist cell.

Yeah – you have to love a group that all for “the protection of American rights”.
