VtBowhunter
Re: That\'s About it for JR. I have to disagree, Luke. If he was that shaken up, then he shouldn't be given the option. If they are trained medical techs. then they should have informed Nascar officials and then the officials could see to it that he recieved the help he needed sooner. His head was so messed up that he didn't know what he needed.

[/ QUOTE ] This is the very reason I think Nascar needs to follow the lead of the Indy Car Series, and have it's own traveling medical and rescue staff. People that are familiar with the driver, and that the drivers are comfortable with. I know the EMT's are proffesionals, but it can't be easy having to deal with a multi millionare, prima donna, race car driver, that just smacked the wall, and is totally p.o.'d. A traveling team, that is with these drivers week in and week out would make these situations a lot easier.
VermontHunter
Re: That\'s About it for JR. [ QUOTE ] "I think it's ridiculous. We walked all the way from 39th pit stall into the garage area before we had any medical attention whatsoever." [/ QUOTE ] Josh this is what I was reffering to, Chad was totally wrong on this statement.......there were 2 EMT workers attending to JJ on the pit wall as soon as he was pulled from his car on pit road...... And if a driver or individua; refuses medical care their is nothing an EMT worker can do.....and if Chad was so insensed he should have demanded the attention right then and there IMO.... I'm just glad that JJ is going to be OK......
VtBowhunter
Re: That\'s About it for JR. I understand that, but there should have been no reason for him to walk anywhere.......Nascar needs to make it manditory that drivers get totally checked out after ANY accident, just for reasons like this. It will also benefit some of the hot tempered drivers.......it gives them time to calm down some before the TV cameras are stuffed in thier faces. [/ QUOTE ] I totally agree,,,,but at this point and time, I think it was up to Chad as the crew chief and leader of his team to make that call for the medical staff, becuase until that was done the EMT's had no further recourse of action to take.....unfortunately.... I totally agree that NASCAR should make all drivers and crews sign contracts to that effect,,,,then anything after that falls ligitamatley into the hands of NASCAR..... VtBowhunter
Re: That\'s About it for JR. True, but if the EMT's (Trained Medical Pros.) had no recourse, then what recourse does a glorified mechanic have? You have to believe that Chad was trying to get him to seek help. [/ QUOTE ] There's my point Josh,,,,,the EMT's were in the same boat.....I think you hit it right on the head, NASCAR need to mandate contracts for drivers and crews if they want to race in NASCAR, this would make things easier on all,,when it comes to a disoriented driver making decissions that he has no witts to make.
