Help me Please!!!!!!

I'm at the end of my rope and frustrated beyond belief with antelope season opening in one week. Can you guess the problem? Age old......can't get me broadheads flying like I want them. Does anyone have some advice?

I'm shooting fingers and have been forever and so I'm tempted to rule out problems with my release. I'm shooting 2514 aluminum arrows with plastic vanes through a newer whisker biscuit. I've got 125 grain Thunderhead broadheads. Got my field tips shooting extemely well but my broadheads are typically a good 6" low and to the right...although every once in a while I'll put one right where I'm aiming. This is at 30 yards....at 20 I'm still not where I want to be but closer. I have made all kinds of adjustments to both sight and rest with nothing much to show for my efforts. My fieldpoints react to changes but the broadheads don't seem to.

I literally shot my arm out yesterday and so didn't touch the darn thing today. I need to get this figured out or I won't be hunting. Any thoughts on mechanicals? I've never used them, but would give it a try if I can't get the Thunderheads to hit where I'm aiming.

Before installing the biscuit, I was consistent with both the broadheads and the field tips using a very simple flipper rest, so I know my problems are related to the biscuit....I just need the answer!!! Any help or discussion would be appreciated.

Re: Help me Please!!!!!!

i wish i could help--i just have no experience with finger shooting. do you happen to have a buddy/fellow archer that has a release? If so maybe you could shoot a few arrows with a release and see if it is actually finger shooting with a WB or if your center shot is off.

six inches low---either raise your rest a 1/16" at a time or lower your nocking point until your broadheads line up with your fieldtips. As far as shooting to the right you need to move your rest in 1/16" at a time to the left.

I am assuming you have not changed anything else with your bow. String??? Draw weight?? Make sure your limb bolts are in the same???

Last but NOT least---you're only a week away you better get into a pro-shop and get it figured out.

PS--I'd shoot a release grin.gifgrin.gif

good luck next week and hope to see some pics of you sittin' behind a big goat!

give me your entire set up...bow make model, draw weight, letoff, cam type, draw length, shaft length(shaft only..or give complete arrow length and I will subract 1/2" to get actual shaft length)

I need to see if them arrows are stiff enough for the biscuit.....also what kind of vanes????

the biscuit likes a stiffer arrow and i know a few using it for fingers and loving it....

or what he said grin.gifgrin.gif

Re: Help me Please!!!!!!

Here's what I'm shooting and everything is the same from last year except the rest:

Late 90's PSE Infinity XLR

Draw weight - 70 lbs

Arrows: Easton XX75 Camo Hunter - 31 inch 2514's

Vanes: 4-inch rubber vanes

Broadhead: 125 grain Thunderhead

Rest: Whisker Biscuit - drop-tine model

Sight: 3-pin PSE (unknown model)

Last year I was shooting 2216 arrows and found they were flying horrible with the broadheads so I talked to a guy at the local sporting goods store and he set me up with the 2514 shafts and it was a miracle cure, so I think I've got the right arrow (could be wrong though).

I decided to shoot a few shots this morning before coming into work and boy am I puzzled now. From 20 yards I put 3 broadheads and 3 field tips in the black spot on my "Block" target - pretty darn good and consistent. Backed up to 30 yards and hit the spot once with the broadhead, was an inch low on another, but about a foot low and to the right with my third. I'm shooting the same arrow each time for whatever reason. So, I may be closer than I thought - this morning I was well rested, not fatigued, weather was cool - all those things could have been affecting my shot the other day. Still puzzled about the low and to the right thing.

Unfortunately, I don't have a local archery shop. We have a couple guys at the sporting goods store, but they aren't pros buy any stretch. Comments like dogdoc made about which direction and how far to move the rest are what I need the most I think.

Although I've been bowhunting for over 15 years and have taken three bull elk and a couple deer, I'm still a novice when it comes to tinkering with bows. I get it set right and then I don't touch it.

Thanks for your input guys - I actually won't be chasing the goats until Labor Day weekend, but that's coming quick. Would love to take one with the stick-shooter!

Are you right handed or left handed.

I'm right handed and you could be correct that my mechanics are off. I will admit that it's starting to affect my confidence and getting into my head. I think I need to pound the begeebers out of my new "Block" at 20 yards and then step back when I'm perfectly confident at that distance....kind of like starting over.

I hadn't heard about that and honestly I can't say if they are or aren't - would have to check when I get home tonight. This might be a stupid question, but once you tighten the broadhead in place - aren't you pretty well stuck with whatever alignment you've got?

Put a small o ring in between the insert and the broadhead.

Re: Help me Please!!!!!!

Sounds to me like ahost of problems, or at least, things to look at. For starters, I would get away from those large shafts but hey, thats me. Fingers with the WB....I believe, a NO NO. Release, yes....that will help. Plus, a major tune problem that can easily be helped. Someone said paper tune.....yes, will help. But I think it will all fall down on the WB.....try the release.

My .2 cents worth.

Re: Help me Please!!!!!!

I do have a 30" draw length. I love shooting fingers and bought this bow because the guy who had it before me was switching to a release and he didn't think it would work well with a release.

I can borrow a 100 grain head and give that a try.

Thanks to all you guys for your thoughts and opinions - I really appreciate the input and feel like I can make my setup work - just gonna take some more time.
