TOMSD5
Indiana Hunters Get More Room To Roam FAIRBANKS, IN—Indiana hunters will have more room to roam next month after a new 8,000-acre fish and wildlife area opens in the southwestern part of the state. The Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) last week announced a 5-year agreement with Indiana Michigan Power Co. to manage the utility's property, which includes 6 miles of Wabash River frontage in Vigo and Sullivan counties. State officials say the Fairbanks Landing Fish and Wildlife Area is the single biggest addition to the state's fish and wildlife system during the past 15 years. Because the land has never been open to the public, the DNR says hunting opportunities should be good on the property. Fairbanks Landing will open to the public starting on November 13, the first day of Indiana's firearms deer season. It also will be open for fishing, hiking and bird watching-at no charge.
