Broadhead tuning.....

Well, I have never had this problem before, so I really don't know what to do. Started practicing with my braodheads, and usually they hit dead on with my field points, but with my new bow, that is not the case, they hit slightly high and right. Would I be better off just adjusting my sight, or do I need more 'professional" help, such as adjusting the rest? I'd say they hit 2-3" high about 1-2" right at 40yds. I am shooting Muzzy 4-Blade at 100gr. Thanks in advance for the help.

Re: Broadhead tuning.....

gator---I'd move the rest like diagramed in the website buckee gave you. This means your bow is just slightly out of tune. You can move your sights if you want but personally I think you want you bow to be in the best tune as possible for hunting.

Re: Broadhead tuning.....

Are they hitting the same at 20 or 30? So many little things can make a difference and provide "input" to the BH:

- d-loop may cause string torque if too short

- nock pinch at the d-loop

- maybe a little more vane to stabilize the arrow?

- anchoring close to face to allow the string to brush off

I'm just throwing things out other than the normal stuff............

Re: Broadhead tuning.....

forget tuning the broadheads...tune the bow!

Simple flight tuning is better than the best paper tuning.

Simply adjust the rest and nock to make the broadheads hit in the same place that the field point do.

You should start by moving the nock up 1/16th and to the left 1/16th.

start at 10 yrds and then keep moving back to 20 then 30 and so on and so forth.

By the time you are at 40/50 yrds. you will have a perfectly tuned bow.

Re: Broadhead tuning.....

if your like me I can't stand having to shoot my broadheads when practicing..especially If you can't sharpen them. So if I were you I would try moving that rest. Only 1/16" at a time though It woun't take much. A 1/16" might even be a big increment. Anyway little by little you'll get it there

You have a new bow. Don't expect the same just because old faithful shot the way you liked. Is the cams harder on the new bow? Maybe the old faithful arrows are underspined. A new bow requires a rest installation, so maybe you tuned to FP and not BH when installed? Unless you have a good match of arrows to the bow, you may never get FP and BH to match. BUT, the BH will group great. Don't always expect the FP and BH to hit the same. It doesn't always happen. AND, it doesn't have to........
