AaronS
Re: Problems with Montecs, anyone else have the same? I've had no durability problems from my 100 grain Muzzys, and replacement blades are cheap.
Stinger-Hunter
Re: Problems with Montecs, anyone else have the sa I reshoot my muzzy broadheads after target shooting and after an occasional wooden background shot. They sharpen up fine. I also was able to resharpen and use my muzzy that I shot my 10 pointer last year. I love them.
Guest bigbuckmiddaugh
Re: Problems with Montecs, anyone else have the sa I say Sonic broadheads. Fly like field points, cut on contact, strong, each blade is replacable by itself. If you do hit something hard it won't ruin the whole head, just put new blades in. Unbelievable penetration I shot a deer this year with them at 16-17 yds, went thru, then went half of my arrow in the ground!!
tedicast
Re: Problems with Montecs, anyone else have the same? I'm shooting 100 grain Wasp Boss Bullets. These heads fly awesome, and are devastating on deer. They don't hold up to well to being shot into the ground, but at 6 heads for $30 I'll take it. EIGHTPOINT
Re: Problems with Montecs, anyone else have the same? If you can get Muzzy"s to fly for you, they are the ticket. Tried and true !!!
Guest 2500HD
Re: Problems with Montecs, anyone else have the same? I have yet to have a problem with mine at all. I am 0-2 this year on shots on does but 2-0 on misses on does and hits on trees. Was able to cut the G5's out and resharpen easily. I would contact G5 and see what they say. You're right, they are not cheap!
need2hunt
Re: Problems with Montecs, anyone else have the same? I haven't had that problem... in fact I shot the a squirrel and a doe this year with the same broadhead, resharpened it and it's back in the quiver for another round
Guest Sagitarius
Re: Problems with Montecs, anyone else have the same? No problems with mine at all. I did call the guy at G5 and he walked me through the sharpening process. It goes as follows: 1) Take a magic marker and color all the cutting edges solid. 2) LAY the broad head longways on the stone (point to the narrow side) 3) Grab the tip where the point opens to the blade hole and apply heavy pressure on the head. 4) Stroke the head 6 times per face. LIFT, ROTATE, AND PLACE the tip between each face. This is an important step in the process. 5) If after 6 strokes of each face, all the marker is gone then proceed to the next step. If not, start over at step 1. 6) Turn the stone 90degrees and have the tip facing the wide side of the stone. 7) With medium pressure, complete 6 circles per face quickly. Remember to lift and place each face and not roll the tip. 8) repeat step 7. You should have 12 strokes per face when done. 9) With only the weight of the tip as a downforce, do 6 circles per face VERY slowly. LIFT AND PLACE to rotate. 10) Repeat step 9. As before you should have 12 strokes per face. 11) If completed in these steps, you should be able to wet your arm and shave with the tip.
