Re: Absolutely Brilliant!!

Several years ago I inadvertantly sat out behind the house on a youth hunt morning and I failed to realize that our archery season had in fact closed. Watched a 7 point pass through out of my bow range. I always check and double check the calendar and the dates now.

Re: Absolutely Brilliant!!

lol. i did something like that once. i hadn't hunted hardly at all when i was in the service. one day (the monday after thanksgiving, which is always the first day of gun season in Ohio) i went hunting for pheasant at a local public hunting area. i completely forgot that you're not allowed to hunt small game during gun season. i wasn't a deer hunter at the time.

the story got even better on my way home when i got stopped by a state trooper doing random car inspections. i had a headlight out, a broken exhaust, and my brake lights didn't work. i was a driving violation. blush.gifgrin.gif the trooper gave me a ticket for the brake lights and told me to fix the headlight and exhaust too. i don't know if state troopers have jurisdiction over the game laws, but i certainly broke the law there too. but he just made mention of my dog and asked me if i'd been hunting.

i got lucky that day.

Re: Absolutely Brilliant!!

last year on opening weekend of pheasant season I went out.we cant hunt till 8:00 for pheasants.I went out, found a really good spot nobody was in and walked through it, missed a few birds and was coming back out when a car full of my buddies pulled up.They asked what I was doing and I told em going to another spot.they asked what was wrong with the one I was in and I told em Id already been through it.They informed me I had forgotten to set my clock back for daylight savings time and had been illegaly shooting at pheasants for the last hour blush.gifTo make it worse a DNR pulled up about then and checked our licenses, nobody mentioned my extra hour of hunting to him though and he musta thought we were just visiting waiting for legal shooting time, but I about crapped myself grin.gif

Re: Absolutely Brilliant!!

A few years ago, I went to our clubs property for the last Sat hunt of archery before muzzleloading season started. One county to the east of us started ML hunting that day, we had to wait another week for ours. Anyhow, another club member arrived as I was getting my gear together, and I asked him when he started bow hunting. His reply was no idiot, today is ML season. I informed him he was partially correct, it was for the eastern half of the state, but we are west of Blue Ridge. DOH! I wondered why no one else was here. He would have been loaded up and plugging at deer if he had not seen me.
