I hang my lock-ons anywhere. Iv'e got one i'm going to hang on the edge of a food source. Another i'm hanging on top of a ridge where there are a few trails along with some acorns. Wherever u think is the best place to hang on, hang it and see what happens.

Well, I've got a ladder stand over a food plot in the middle of some pretty thick woods. I've got a stand out in the river-swamp. I've got another stand bordering a planted field next to a busy highway. And another stand on private property that I have permission to hunt on this year.

Re: where does everyone like to hang there stands.

I have permanent ladder stands on my property. I personally look for funnels where deer will pass from one peice to another. Deer in NY usually feed in food plots at night because of the pressure.

Make sure that you don't have the sun in your face when you choose a location. Kinda tough to shoot a deer that way.

Usually I have hunted food sources on ridges and in fields early and down in the bottoms later in the year. This year I am changing to all funnels leading to these places, or sancuaries. We shall see how it works out.

Mostly I put my tree stands in ..............trees!

Seriously, I like to hang my along the edge of a ridge between bedding area, and a food source. The next choice for me is to hang them near a funnel between 2-3 ridges.

I'm a big fan of a corner where a fence row and timber meet with either CRP land or a crop field there. Shot my biggest buck with this setup.

Most of our stands are in travel corridors between bedding and feeding areas or along crop fields.

I perfer trees to....

On a serious note, I like to set up on heavy used trails moving to and from bedding areas. Also I like to hunt about 200 yards or 400 yards away from cornfields. The deer will come back during the day from the fields and go bed. Great way to pick a mature buck.

Another place I like to hunt in earlier season is a mature buck's domain. Might try to rattle softly and grunt aggressive. He might come out and see whose wanting a fight.

Good Luck

Got stands in the woods in funnel areas and near ridge tops. Generally all of my stands are in large oak trees wider than my body. Have a couple blinds located over food plots and a ground blind I hunt on a hillside fence row under a narrow strip of hardwoods looking over a river bottom.
