HeviShot
I am tired of tearing my vanes up on my arrows.I shoot Easton Epics and a few Super Carbons.I don't live close to an archery shop.I usually buy pack of vanes at wally world and replace them.Do I need to start shooting at different spots on the target or should I be happy with tight groups? What do ya'll do? Guest tyshe17
Re: Killing my vanes Different spots is the best way I have found, I shoot the blazer vanes now and they hold up better. However, this is the same reason they have started shooting five spot in competitions...us shooters are just too good
tedicast
Re: Killing my vanes My first round of the day will be a group at either 35, or 40 yards. After that I am shooting spots, or different targets. I hate the sound of my Gold Tips slapping...lol
HeviShot
Re: Killing my vanes I just blew up another epic.I posted this went out to shoot one more time before dark. When I walked up to the target I noticed a nock missing, closer inspection revealed tiny lines down the shaft. dogdoc
Re: Killing my vanes dude----start shooting at difference spots. Shooting like that is going to get a little expensive! nice shooting though! todd
VermontHunter
Re: Killing my vanes I definately went to shooting five spot targets....Robin Hooding a shaft is cool one or two time but it gets darn expensive when you destroy a $10.00 shaft every time out..... ,,,vanes aren't expensive but it's hard on the shafts with all that prep. to refletch them..... buckee
Re: Killing my vanes Yep, when ya start burying your fletchings in the target, it's time to start shooting at a different spot for sure.

GWSmith
Re: Killing my vanes Hey if I were you I'd be shooting at different spots. If you dont have a target with different spots use a marker or something...maybe even those blaze orange stick on kind...they work great and you'll be suprised how hard they are to hit consistently Aim Small...Miss Small
Smitteken
Re: Killing my vanes I just started having this problem too. I used to shoot aluminum and a tm hunter. I swithched to gold tips, got a new sight and a VBG dropaway. Now I'm klinkin arrows alot. So I'm definitely going to spots. Its cool to shoot 6 arrows in a 1.5 or 2 in group but its also cool to nail all 5 spots. Also I'v found that shooting the same spot all day, your body gets used to settling in the same place. But by moving even slightly to shoot higher or lower or left or right helps me out. good luck aaron
BowtechTurkeyHunter
Re: Killing my vanes Nice shooting I would definately switch to spots its farely obvious your grouping ok and consistantly I wouldnt be concerned with that now you just have to practice hitting the spots great practice to mix it up a little to. Guest Scrape Maker
Re: Killing my vanes Sets your goals.Like start at 20 yrds and shoot at 5 spots on the target. If you hit four out of five back up 5 or 10 yrds.keep doing that and mixing it up.It makes it more fun that way.Its even better if you have someone to compete with. hutchies
Re: Killing my vanes Definitly start shooting a 5 spot. I don't know about you but I can't afford to buy arrows all the time.
Orion_70
Re: Killing my vanes Personally I take a bunch of arrows, throw then randomly around then shoot each arrow at a spot on the target. Never the same range, never the same spot on the target. I never saw a real deer with a group of arrows in it. One shot is usually all you get. I just practice like I hunt. I can see how it would be useful for competitions though
buckee
Re: Killing my vanes Multiple spots are arrow friendly. Remember...when you shoot at a deer, your not shooting a group of tightly placed arrows, your only shooting one. I don't shoot more than two arrows at each spot at once. It sure saves on fletchings , nocks and arrows. And robinhood's, although the first one is nice to get, get real expensive
Tominator
Re: Killing my vanes Get a 5 spot target and shoot at different spots.
ksdeerhunter03
Re: Killing my vanes Not to beat a dead horse, but mix it up. Shoot 5 spots and work on drilling the center of the x.
