Re: When You Finaly Get In Your Treestand???

Im with you VTbowhunter...I hate having my bow on the ground, then pulled up right, then swinging as I pull it into my tree...any preset stands have pull up ropes hanging from them for me. When I use a climber I tie onto the top limb and set it upright against a tree close by...this way if I am careful I can avoid that pendilum thing and only have to check my bottom cam and make sure it is free of any debree.

My bow is split limb so I just clip the rope around one limb. I normally use a 30 foot+ pull rope that way, once I reach my height, the bow is laying on the ground with the bottom cam near the base of the tree. This helps stop the pendulum effect.

Re: When You Finaly Get In Your Treestand???

I use a 30 foot piece of parachute cord. The 500# stuff.

I have mine cut to the exact 30 foot mark to use as a yardage marker gauge as well as a pull up rope.

I also tied knots at exactly 10 and 20 foot marks to use as a gauge for stand height.

I tie my rope around the limbs and lay it flat on the ground but not in dirt. I will lay it over a log or stick, or whatever, to keep the cam/limb tips off the ground once I pull it off the ground.

Re: When You Finaly Get In Your Treestand???

I do this with my rifles...should work just a good with a softsided bowcase(thats well sprayed with scent-away). I've never lost anything in the dark this way and everything stays protected!!!

To the handles on my softsided rifle case.

Open it and hang the rifle.

Close it and send the thing back down.

I tie the rope on the top section of my climber so I know when I have reached my desired hieght in the dark...you'll feel the difference in weight as soon as the rope reaches its end.

Oh I never thought about tying knots in intervals on my rope for my climber. That is a very good tip and one that I will use. As for me, I do the same as others, put the rope through the split limb and hook the clip around the rope.

Re: When You Finaly Get In Your Treestand???

i clip my pull up cord to my bow string so that when i pull it up the arrows are facing up so not to damage the arrows on the quiver, when i feel my bow start to lift up , "i use a climing tree stand" i know im at my 20 foot sestination
