horst
Re: savage smokeless? Dont get me wrong AJ, I wasnt knocking the Savage ML, Im sure thier fine guns and very accurate and reliable.Im just not sure they should be so easily accepted in the Ml season. To be honest the Knight inline I shoot would be better suited during the regular firearm season than it is the ML season.kinda hypocritical on my part but I really wonder sometimes. Seen a Ml awhile back they were advertising. The powder and primer were actually a high power shell with a wad in the end.The only thing that even resembled muzzleloading was you seated the bullet on the shell.Cant remember who made it now but I think I seen it in here. What would that be then, a Ml or a rifle? There does have to be a line somewhere, im not sure what it is but were really pushing the envelope with some of these.Other groups are starting to pay attention to this and asking why were getting our own special seasons for these single shot rifles. If were not willing tosay enoughs enough at some point the states are going to, and we may not like the results. AJ
Re: savage smokeless? The only real difference between the Savage and the rest is the Savage is stronger. That's it. It can still shoot black powder, Pyrodex, Tripple 7, or any other substitute on the market, but unlike the rest this include smokeless powder. It is still loaded from the muzzle, an ignition source is installed in the breech. It has open sights but it also drilled and tapped for optical sights. Too many people think that just because it can be used with smokeless and can generate some impressive numbers, it is much easier to use at long range. Unless your load is perfect, you have the abilities to shoot long distances, and have practiced at long range, its pure luck to connect. smallmunster
Re: savage smokeless? I have two brothers who have the Savage 10ML II and have used them myself along with sighting them in. They are not perfect but whenever my supply of clear shot runs out my CVA will be gone and I will get one myself. I really like the bolt that doesn't need a capper to get the primer in or out and I have been fairly pleased with the accuracy although I had to shorten the scope base screws on the newest one.
