Tominator
Re: Do you shoot: II? Probably a tempter, but in the end, a skipper. He looks to be only a 7pt. Look at the belly on that thing though. His rumen must be full.

Rhino
Re: Do you shoot: II? billygoat, even though Mississippi isn't known for the big bucks like some other areas of the country, I'd pass on that one too. I passed a buck up down here last year that looked just like that and he was 15 yards from me while I was hunting a ground blind. Looking at the body size of that deer though I believe he's older than 2. He looks more like a 3 year old buck to me. I'll honestly tell you this though, 10 years ago I would have been putting a hole in those size deer without thinking twice about it. hutchies
Re: Do you shoot: II? Sorry guys but I am a meat hunter. A healthy good sized deer gives me the shot I am taking it and headed to the slaughter house.
AaronS
Re: Do you shoot: II? Not a thing in the world wrong with that hutchies. Everyone has different goals and no single one is more right than another as long as they're legal and ethical. I have enough opportunities to take does to fill the freezer, so I choose to wait for mature bucks. Just where my goals lie after 23 years of deer hunting. Guest VenadoMacho
Re: Do you shoot: II? Honestly down here in South Texas, that buck wouldnt even get looked at through a pair of Binos. Bucks of that size and age are a dime a dozen around here. I would let that deer get about 3 more years of growing under his belt before I even considered shooting him. markyj987
Re: Do you shoot: II? Where I hunt in SE Wisconsin because there is so much pressure....he'd definitely be a shooter for me. In most other parts of the state, I'd let him walk--unless I was bowhunting...LOL
robk
Re: Do you shoot: II? if you know he is local and not leaving a lot he is worth another year and pass up this year would be ideal. now if your in a area where he is possibly going to be shot if he runs next door or something like that then i would say put a hurtin on him rob k
ultratec1
Re: Do you shoot: II? If it was someones first buck it would be a great canidate. However if you are a trophy hunter and not a meat hunter than let him walk. He WILL get bigger if left alone. Just think in 2 years he could be a 10 with junk hanging all over the place. Guest shtr
Re: Do you shoot: II? Hard call I would probably let him go if he had a 50/50 chance of making it another year.

BowJoe
Re: Do you shoot: II? What do you mean...? [ QUOTE ] since i'm from IL i would almost have to say that i would pass on him because it looks like he has some pretty good genetics and he would be a dandy next year [/ QUOTE ] I'm from So. IL and I see bigger all the time and I would still make a Muzzy Moment out of that if given the chance!!! Illinois may have good gentics, but that is every bit of a 3-4 yr old and probably a fine trophy for 97% of all bowhunters. Don't be greedy, just hunt. But I would have to see it without velvet. I would almost definitely take it with a bow. Maybe pass with a gun. Either way its a great deer for most hunters.
