PAbowhunter4life
Re: Name that buck I have one that I am looking to settle a score with this fall. I call him "White Ghost". Story behind it you ask? First time I saw him it was before shooting light . In the dark, I could barely see his silhouette, but I saw a MASSIVE bone whiet rack. It was sort of eery looking, basically, it looked like a ghost moving through the woods. Second time I saw him, 5 minutes left in last archery season. Long story short, hit him a hair low and never found him, but saw him chasing does a few days later. To this day I don't know how many points he has, but he is high, thick and well beyond his ears. GWSmith
Re: Name that buck Yep sure have!!! Sorry about not being more original but his name is "BigBoy". I've had the privelege of picking up one of his sheds and have seen him cross the road leaving my hunting area into his bedding area. I scouted out where he was staying during the day and watched him slip acrossed the road at dark(sneeky bugger). What he does not know is I have permission to hunt his bedroom now!!! I'll be seeing him during shooting hours if he makes it through til then.
VtBowhunter
Re: Name that buck "Lucky" As a 1.5 year old spike he was shot at 4 times by 4 different hunters and one of them took off part of his right ear. 3 years later I was lowering my bow out of my stand as it was getting too dark to see my pins and as the cam touched the ground, a buck jumped out of some thick cover overhanging a dried brook bed 15 yards away. Seems he walked the bed down and I never saw him due to the cover......he was a wide 6 or 8 (couldn't see if he had brows). He was missing a large portion of his right ear. Last year I'm hunting him and there he is. He's coming to me down the ridge, when I hear a limb snap behind me, and the buck turns and runs back up the ridge.......I turn to see what the noise came from and I see one of my cousins bulls had gotten out of the fields and that spooked ol' Lucky. I will get him if it's the last thing I do.
ODH
Re: Name that buck "Todd" A few years ago my friend hit a large buck with his car, actually the deer was the one that hit the car, ran right into the door. It didnt kill the deer though, but you can tell its him because he has a little bit of a limb when he walks. He hasnt got the deer yet though, only one long shot with a muzzleloader, but hasnt got him yet.

ksdeerhunter03
Re: Name that buck I have a few bucks I have followed for years on our ranch. Special Dark -- Chocolate rack, 12, he should be 5 this year, maybe its his time probably 160-170 this year. Onaga - Huge 10, 170+ last year, never in bow range. F&%^ing HUGE - thats the deer I see at dark all the time, he is totally nocturnal, have never seen him in the light, only at total dark, dont see him in the summer, I hunt 10,000 private acres, and he is in the middle of it, but I never get to see him. Hmmmm? Its fun! Oh yeah, KOTN - King of the Ninnescah, biggest buck I have ever seen, he is a huge non-typical, not exaggerating, may be a state record N.T. I missed him 2x two years ago, but only saw him after rifle season last year, so I know he made it!

browning_gold_12
Re: Name that buck wimpy; a couple years ago an article in north amercan whitetail featured a buck taken by a guy named mark wimpy. he had split g2's like a mule deer. shortly after reading this i saw a nice 10 with split g2's, so i nicknamed him wimpy. i passed him that year, he was about 16" wide, sorta spindly horned. i found one of his sheds that year and scored him around 120. the next year he really put on some bone. he was killed about 2 miles from his summer spot where i had watched him, and scored 142 with a 19.5" inside spread. bullwinkle; the first real big buck i ever saw. i was hunting in southern illinois, east of marion. this dude was a pig. 8 pt. 22" inside scored 132, weighed 265. Guest whitetailarcher
Re: Name that buck [ QUOTE ] I have one that I am looking to settle a score with this fall. I call him "White Ghost". Story behind it you ask? [/ QUOTE ] I call a nice 5x5 up in my area ghost because first and only time I've seen him was this year in the thickest fog possible. In the same area I also have a huge 5x4 with a massive droptine on his right side. Since he's the only droptine I've seen around I just call him "droptine" Other than that I just refer to the bucks as "that wide one" or "that tall one" or "that thick one" and my hunting buddies usually know which one I'm talking about. Needless to say we scout year around for these deer so much fun.
Guest whitetailarcher
Re: Name that buck What I find even more interesting than naming the bucks are people that name the areas they hunt. We have a huge refuge and to know where everyones hunting we name the places. The diagnols, the white barn, goose corner, the old fire tower. These names are pretty much contained in just our group of hunters and its interesting to talk to other hunters about where they're going and they'll say like muzzle loader bay which I've never heard of and I'll say goose corner which he's never heard of and we'll end up in the same spot! joebobhunter4
Re: Name that buck well i didnt name him i guess but i was sure disapointed when i didnt shoot at him when he was about 50 yards running at me. longstory short i was hunting with my grandpa and this huge mule deer came runnin either 5x5 or 6x6 massive horns bet you couldnt have got your fingers around him and high rack and big spread way utside the ears... i thought he was coming at me so i got down cuz he was jus coming off the top of the hill and he was gone... he was the one everyone in the county was talking about and earlier that week i had been sitting on a hill and my dad was walkin these trees annd me and his friend were on top of the hill and he was jumped all over pointing in the trees cause he seen him bout we couldnt see him... its funny how those big ones know who has the guns and who doesnt... i drew muley riffle this year again to so ill have another shot at him this year

TreeWalker
Re: Name that buck Oh let's see.... "Big-8".......a typical 8 pointer that should gross over 170 this year...... "Captain Hook".......a 10 pointer that likes to scrap and normally breaks the majority of his tines off in the process, only leaving a main beam or two that looks like a hook..... "Sling Blade" was a nice 10 point buck with extremely palmated G2's that looked like daggers.....or blades....

Guest buddy ahart
Re: Name that buck The hunting area that i hunt is called the "trangle" its surrounded by two highways that clame more deer then hunters do. I shot a nice ten pointer there last year had a 18 inch spread. There was a buck there i called him " candle sticks" cause his g2s g3s were so large but i only saw him twice once in early muzzleloader and at 60 yards in archery he was poached at 11 oclock with a rifel during the muzzleloader season my uncle heard the shot and i found the blood trail and tire marks in the dirt . BowJoe
Re: Name that buck Yeah me and my best friend and his uncle have a few bucks we have been watching and interacting with for a few years. There is "15" (DUH) the monster I missed about 4 years back on video that if my buddy had brought his bow like I told him to would have had a 20 yard shot broadside instead of the 35 yard shot under a limb that I literally had to get on my knees in my stand to even try to hit him. Then there's "Bent Rack" who we believe is the same deer I shot right in the shoulder blade because he was walking and then I radioed the same buddy that I had shot a 4 pointer and it was runnin toward him. He was about 80 yrds away, saw the buck stop runnin, shot him a little high but still a clean pass through and I then came back the next day after we had tracked him 400 yrds. 2 years later we saw a buck with a messed up left side rack but a typical 4 tines on the right. He was limping on his left front leg and had a bare patch on his right top side exactly where my buddy shot him. Now he's a monster we won't shoot because he might stand up, catch the arrow and break it in two and then come knocking at our door on a dark and stormy night. We also have Tall Tine and Drop Tine. These names are highly original in nature and we do have copyrights in place for legal reasons. So if anyone ever uses these names, please notify me so I can verify their existence and determine further hunting...I mean, Legal action to be used.
