Re: Name that buck

Get ready for some photos!

I've named several bucks. This is Nick, who got his name because he was thought to be the buck that a bowhunter missed when he misjudged the distance and nicked his brisket a couple of years ago.

However, after looking at photos, it turns out that the unlucky bowhunter actually missed Sam (below) who seems to have fallen off the face of the earth shortly after the photo was taken. Sam also had a smaller buddy I named Slick Rick.

This shed antler comes off a buck I will be bowhunting for this year named Hook Jr. I have his set of sheds from the year before, as well as a shed from his dad (Hook).

This is Sloughfoot, a buck I shot in the rifle season in 2003. He got the name Sloughfoot because I spent the better part of a day tracking him during the muzzleloader season. I jumped him twice but was not able to take a shot - after the second time he knew I was tracking him and he started trudging through a series of sloughs to loose me. I ended up running out of daylight that day.

I also shot a buck back in 2002 that I had named Bulldawg because of his body shape. I have shed antlers from the prior two years from him. His buddy was Buckasaurus who was last seen during the stalk on Bulldawg.

This is the General. I missed him from 30 yards during the muzzleloader season in 2003 (with CLB watching blush.gif), and a young hunter shot him later during the rifle season.
