Guest fishermanwhohunts
Re: My First Deer Mount Do you know the ages? If the 8 is the older one (deer antlers start getting smaller when they get to elderly) the shape is great but the paint could use more grey. If the 12 is older It's head should be more blocky but the paint is good. All I am saing here is the quality of the job depends alot upon the deers age. I do agree the smile on the 12 is inaccurate. If the ears are in a cocked back position and the deer is exited (like when a dog pulls its ears back and tightens its face when it is exited) then there would be a tiny "mock smile" but nothing that big. Guest Finn
Re: My First Deer Mount Great deer and I like both mounts. Congrats. Wish I got deer like that and then had the talent to produce a beautiful mount.
rossman
Re: My First Deer Mount you guys are nuts. I still don't see the great work. It just doesn't look real to me. Sorry, I guess I am used to my taxidermist and the awesome work he does!!!! My guy even excentuates the tear ducts in the eyes. But those are some awsome deer you killed. Usually, one of those would be a deer of a lifetime. ANd you got two. Now what is your secret?
buckshot
Re: My First Deer Mount [ QUOTE ] you guys are nuts. I still don't see the great work [/ QUOTE ] I don't think I'm nuts or anyone else who complimented him on his mounts. What is nuts is that you keep coming back here telling everyone what a poor job he did and then ask him what his secret is on shooting big bucks. GWSmith
Re: My First Deer Mount I have to admit Glen.... Reading the title of your post...I dont know you so I was hoping to see a decent deer and mounting job that was done at least good by someone for your benifit. Its not too often that my eyes get a good POP!!! Man...that felt weird. I was laughing at myself when i felt them bulge looking at your bucks.... Great Work all the way around
rossman
Re: My First Deer Mount OK, relax!!!! The "you guys are nuts" comment was not sincere. Ever hear of a figure of speech? I did say they he did a better job than I could ever do!!! So they are good for a beginner. I did compliment him on the bucks he killed. Not everything was negative. As for giving my opinion? Don't post if you do not expect honest opinions!! I apologize for the negative vibes, but it is just how I see it!!!!!!

You have every right to your opinion, and you stated it. No reason to keep bringing it up. Let it be. And by the way nice mounts!! looks like you got what it takes to turn out some wonderful stuff. I just wish I had the patients to do stuff like that.

Guest BuckMaster058
Re: My First Deer Mount Great job wouldn't have the patience to do that myself. Also be afraid I would mess up. Two great bucks surely beats my little six.
TreeStandBowHunter
Re: My First Deer Mount Not mentioning any names but as I always say, there is always one guy in the bunch that just has to make a good thread into a bad thread. Some things are just best left unsaid or worded in a different way. Well, I guess I am nuts too then because those are some fantastic deer in my book and some fantastic mounts. I don't know to much about taxidermy but from what I do know, I would have to say that you have a future in that business if you keep it up. Good job on the mounts and good harvest. I'd let you do mine anyday. And remember, there is always that one guy that no one ever likes anyway Good work
