camelNS Posted August 17, 2005 Report Share Posted August 17, 2005 Got my bear bait all set up last weekend.Trying a new area this season.There are a tonne of bears around this season.Going to check and refresh the bait tomorrow.should be hit after 4 days,I hope,LOL.Season starts on Sept.12.Man I can't wait!!! This is the one season that I wish we could because we have some real Bruins here but it's rough to get anywhere near them with a bow. I wished we could still bait bear here in Colorado. It's a lot of fun---but also a lot of WORK---hauling buckets of bait up the mtn is no picnic ! Good luck hope you get a big ole boar !! Colorado Bob,I am hunting out of a treestand(portable)about 16"up a spruce,20 yards away.Set up perfect for a nice broadside shot with the bow.Lots of work indeed!!!I have about a 600 yard walk to the bait,grease buckets are quite heavy and about 40.lbs of bread,Thats a workout!!LOL. I still have the bait going.One bait is being hit now(at my usual spot),the other I haven't gotten back to and won't till wednesday.Should be hit by now.It's a new area but we watch bears there every spring until it gets too hot and they stick to the cooler areas.I have no doubts that the bait will get hit,I just got a little nervous about it not being hit so I put out another bait for some insurance.
