maddhunter
Re: 2005 Okie Bowhunting Camp Well sorry guys I won't be able to make it for the scouting trip. Running low on cash and the way gas is there's just no way. Sure was looking forward to it. Hopefully I will be able to make it for the bow hunt though. MCH
Re: 2005 Okie Bowhunting Camp Ya'll boys missed out on some fun. We've got dibs on all the good hunting spots so those who show up in November might as well just stay at camp... Did I mention that two deer ran right across the campgrounds while we were there??? Seriously, check out mine, Dale's, and Kyle's UDJ's for the full story.

MCH
Re: 2005 Okie Bowhunting Camp Go ahead...I play the wind... You know I was looking the map over yesterday, and there were quite a few roads that we didn't even go down. One of them was my favorite spot according to the topo map. But once I saw the vegetation, I just started looking for trees that my climber would fit in. Might have to bring the old ladder stand and maybe a chain on. hutchies
Re: 2005 Okie Bowhunting Camp Will they let you use Ladders or chain-ons up there. Normally on WMA you can only use a climbing stand. I am going to try and buy a climber before then otherwise I will be pulling a J.B. and hunting out of the ground blind. MCH
Re: 2005 Okie Bowhunting Camp Hutch, most WMA's don't like you attaching anything to a tree that will damage it. Like nailing boards, screwing in steps, etc. Ladder stands are actually better for the trees than a climber. There's minimal damage to the tree, whereas with a climber, your basically de-barking the tree.... Hang on stands would be OK but you'd have to have a pair of climbing sticks or for this terrain, you could use the limbs to the trees as steps. The_Kat
Re: 2005 Okie Bowhunting Camp Hutch, man you need to run to your local wally world and check them climbers out. I bought the 98$ one and it's pretty cool. I have never had a fancy climber, only an all metal one that was a pain. This one has a comfy seat with arm rests, a shooting rail ( safety rail in my opinion ), foot straps, and a full body harness.
hutchies
Re: 2005 Okie Bowhunting Camp Yeah bud my brother in law has one of those and that is what I am gonna go buy next week.
MCH
Re: 2005 Okie Bowhunting Camp If you can afford to part with the dough....buy a Summit. They are awesome. Light, easy to put up, quiet, and comfortable. My friend owns one of those from Wal-mart and they are good for the money, but there's no comparison with my Summit. hutchies
Re: 2005 Okie Bowhunting Camp For this year I am gonna buy the one from Wal Mart. Money is tight with us rushing to try and finish the project on the house. Before next season I want to buy a good climber and I will keep the wal mart one for a buddy, my wife, or a backup. MCH
Re: 2005 Okie Bowhunting Camp Hey guys, I'm gonna have my 8-man tent set up Thursday and it will sleep 3-4 comfortably. Last year, Ryan and his bud stayed in it and we had plenty of room. If anyone wants to leave the tent at home and share mine, they're welcome. hutchies
Re: 2005 Okie Bowhunting Camp Ok, I am for sure. I have plenty of time in Texas to hunt so I will hit opening weekend hard down there and then I will be there. Besides I would rather be around my Okie buddies than some of these Aggie Idiots that show up at camp. I like going to deer camp, they like going to beer camp.
