REALTREE FORUMS VS ARCHERY TALK

You know I figured something out yesterday and I wanted to share with all of you. This is not a bashing post against AT so if you are a member there, don't get upset. I just want to show you the difference in the two forums.

We argue in here from time to time. We get upset when a Mod edits a post or locks a post due to people getting out of line and we whine about it like little kids. But go over to AT sometime. Look at the difference in the quality and character of the threads over there. You don't see joking threads too often like you see in here. You don't see the laughter over there like you see in here. There SOAPBOX is similair to our LOUNGE. Just go over there and look at the difference. The Mods here do a good job keeping this site clean and it pays off. When I say Mods, I am not referring to myself because we all know I am just a "Special" mod with access to control my Casualty Report thread and that's it. I might step out of my little box from time to time to help out but really I am not supposed too grin.gif

But anyway, you have to admit that we have fun over here. Sometimes we get out of line and want to kill each other but for the most part, we ARE like one big family in here. We definatley have more laughs and more fun over here than AT. I have a screen name there but I think I posted about 10 times since I joined in January. Everybody is always fighting and it seems like everybody hates each other over there.

So in closing, the next time we start to whine about something a Mod did like edit or lock a post, look at the character and quality of the Realtree forums. Thanks to Scott and the "Real" Mods here, this site is how it is and only all of us as in you and me can keep it that way. Just thought I would share.

Re: REALTREE FORUMS VS ARCHERY TALK

AT is just too big IMHO.

I posted a few questions there some time ago and if you dont keep right on top of it, your posts ends up 5 pages deep.

That and you just dont get the forum family feeling like RT.

JMO

I only go into the Traditional stuff over there now and its a bit better but still no RT. Again, JMO

The classified section gets 2 thumbs up. Just shear volumn of users gets your stuff sold quickly.

A lot of real nice folks too.

Re: REALTREE FORUMS VS ARCHERY TALK

They have a great classified section over there, pretty much anything you can think of is for sale there........

I can't really form an opinion about the lounge type fighting and such, cause all I see of AT.com is the classifieds and sometimes the area shooting information. I do have to agree with you about this site Mike.........simply the best around. cool.gif

Re: REALTREE FORUMS VS ARCHERY TALK

you have to remember AT is not sponsored or established by a "Family Oriented" company. They let arguments/disagreements go a lot further than there and also allow cussing--not the best place for the young ones.

However--like stated they have a great classified section and if you have a technical question you can usually get some great answers since there are a lot of pro-shop owners and pros that frequent the site. You're right though--there's no place like HOME---RT Home that is smile.gif

Re: REALTREE FORUMS VS ARCHERY TALK

Only time I go to AT is to look in the classifieds for something specific. I listed a few things for sale over there, and the ridiculous, low ball offers I got made me laugh. Way too much B. S. over there for me. I rarely go there, or HuntAmerica.com forums anymore

Re: REALTREE FORUMS VS ARCHERY TALK

I have only been there a few times...Mostly for the classifieds like everone else. Be careful with this thread....we do not need an attack like we got from another site not long ago. I personally would not have posted this...It is only asking for trouble imho.

Re: REALTREE FORUMS VS ARCHERY TALK

AT is actually quite a good site. I have learned alot of useful info there and have met some very nice people. I had one guy send me a release I was looking for for FREE just because he didn't use it anymore, he didn't even make me pay the shipping. All my interactions over there have been very positive. Every site has it's members who will cause trouble and characteristics that others will not like, even this one.

Re: REALTREE FORUMS VS ARCHERY TALK

Realtree and AT are different animals. I visit both regularly but rarely post at AT. There's a lot of Archery knowledge floating around over there along with the excellent deals in the classifieds.

It'd be hard for any forum out there to touch this one.

Re: REALTREE FORUMS VS ARCHERY TALK

Realtree is the only forum I have been a member of, I never heard of Archery Talk until I started coming on here, I had never heard anything good about AT until this thread. That said, I guess if I was a big bow hunter I would go in there although I am sure they have other discussions as well. I'm perfectly happy here in Realtreeland though so I can't imagine not posting on here. When I get home from work about the only thing I want to do is get on here and see what has been kicked around since I last got on.

Re: REALTREE FORUMS VS ARCHERY TALK

If you've never been to Archery Talk, don't let this discussion discourage you. There are a lot of good people on that forum willing to help out fellow archers. As far as strictly "archery" forums go, you'd be hard pressed to find a site with a larger membership or greater knowledge base.

It's true, however, that they are loosely moderated.

I've personally learned a lot from AT and visit there daily. More than Realtree??? Shoot nah...grin.gif
