Missed160
How are the gas prices going to affect your hunting trips? Even though I got access to a new spot for deer hunting, I am going to have to stick with my closer spots a lot more then I had planned on.. Also a trip to No. Dak. for pheasant sounds like it'll be called off...

BuckNrut
Re: A different twist on Gas Prices.... Even though all my spots are in one unit, I too, will focus on the ones 15 minutes vs 40 minutes away.
AaronS
Re: A different twist on Gas Prices.... I don't think it will change anything for me. I gained permission to hunt a new hotspot this year and it turns out that it is less than half as far as my normal hunting spot. 8 miles from home vs. 20 miles. huntn4bucks
Re: A different twist on Gas Prices.... As far as hunting locally, I don't think gas prices will affect me too much. I have a goose hunting trip in S. Illinois scheduled this winter and unless I find someone to go with me to share the expenses, I may have to stay home. IowaDeerHunter
Re: A different twist on Gas Prices.... Our hunting land is 100 miles from here. So lets see, last weekend in October every one in November, and December. 100 down and 100 back, plus all the driving around, it will be a lot but well worth it! VTbowman
Re: A different twist on Gas Prices.... I got 2 out of state trips planned and gas prices will not keep me from them. I will gripe about it but will so be there no question about it. Hunting locally is only 1 mile away, however, thanks to VermontHunter, I have a new farm as "plan B" for the rifle season that I will not hesitate to drive to. Not sure about the distance but its about 45 minutes away. LOL (Typical Vermonter gauge for driving distance. Time spent driving. LOL)

ruttinbuc
Re: A different twist on Gas Prices.... I have a trip to Kansas in a few weeks that will be more expensive than the last trip for sure. I just hope that the price does not increase too much more. I will just have to sacrifice somewhere else. Peanut butter and jelly instead of Filet Mignon. If you really want to play I guess you have to pay. ksdeerhunter03
Re: A different twist on Gas Prices.... It wont change if I hunt or not, but it will suck the cash out of my wallet every time I fill up!
Turkeygirl
Re: A different twist on Gas Prices.... I basically walk to my hunting spots as I hunt on farmland. All I have to do is walk about 10-20 minutes to get to where I want to go. Sometimes I will drive the car down the road and up a tractor path but gas won't affect my hunting! preacherman
Re: A different twist on Gas Prices.... I will hunt out of town almost ever weekend. it doesn't bother me. I know it will cost me a little extra for gas in the truck and also the four wheeler, but I think it will be well worth it to try and keep my sanity! clayman
Re: A different twist on Gas Prices.... The one major trip (Manitoba waterfowling) has been an annual thing for my Dad, brother, and a bunch of our friends for over 20 years. It's a ten hour drive, and we'll feel the pinch at the pump, but the only thing that would ever keep us home is a death in the family. I do my deer hunting in northern Minnesota where I grew up three hours away from here. The gas prices won't keep me back, but I do hope that I get one opening weekend so I won't have to "fill the tank" three weekends in a row. Shaun_300
Re: A different twist on Gas Prices.... It won't affect me at all, I hunt about 60 miles from here, so no biggie.

too_pointer
Re: A different twist on Gas Prices.... Well, .15 cents more on a 20 gallon tank is only $3.00 more tank, I don't think that will stop any of us from hunting
AJ
Re: A different twist on Gas Prices.... It will cut my hunting this year. As of now, I am not planning to bow hunt this year. I am already spending ~$130 a week on gas and spending another 50% for hunting, whitetails? No thanks. If it were elk, I would do it, but not for these deer. I thought about a one week guided hunt here in VA, but the place I wanted is booked up for 2 years. Oh well.
BowtechTurkeyHunter
Re: A different twist on Gas Prices.... Wont stop me a bit its the price you pay for something I wait all year to do.... no way will it stop me.

christsavedme
Re: A different twist on Gas Prices.... Can't say that it will slow me down....It will have to climb alot higher than it is now to slow me down anyways. And I have two places to hunt. One is about 40 miles and the other is about 125 miles....so I guess I will be a TN hunter this year. But on that note I didn't hunt Mississippi that much last year anyways!
