huntrman
Well it's getting very close to opening day, and I know I've read it a million times on here, but I never write it down. Could someone please list with amount(s) the ingredients to make the homemade cover scent. I AM going to print it out this time. Thanks. MCH
Re: Homemade Cover Scent I don't have the one you're talking about but Roadkill10 told me about one this year that is simple and should work. Basically, if you have cedar trees in your area, just take some smaller section of the needles? and boil them for a while. Let cool and strain. You've got yourself an awesome smelling cedar cover scent. Works great! I've got 3 gallons that I prepared last January sitting in my closet curing right now. hutchies
Re: Homemade Cover Scent MCH is right!! What you try to find it the new growths on the cedar trees. The tips will be bright green. Put them in a pot and boil them til the water starts chaning colors and the cedar starts turning brown. Let cool strain and whala you have cover scent. I have used this for years and have deer walk right by me. Seems to work best when fresh.
Jeramie
Re: Homemade Cover Scent I use to use Oak leaves, crushed acorns, pine needles, and I would also throw in a couple of handfulls of fresh dirt after I had boiled everything else and was pouring it into the big container. Works great!

wtnhunt
Re: Homemade Cover Scent Made my own before. Used acorns and a variety of types of leaves from around here, boil them in water and then strain it out after it cools.
dogdoc
Re: Homemade Cover Scent not a cover scent but here is a recipe I've been using now for 3 years--a homemade scent killer! 1 Gal. of distilled water 2 pints of 3% hydrogen peroxide (some use equal parts of water and peroxide but I think this is plenty.) 1 1 pound box of household baking soda 1 oz. of scentless soap. Mix well (a lot of stiring) and let stand for several days loosly covered for the "action" bubbles to stop working. then put in a spray bottle and use.
