Bow Hunter Derek
Re: Idea for Realtree Video Bow hunting only. Personnally, I get no enjoyment watching a guy take a 200 yard shot with a rifle. Absolutely NO fake set up video. This burns me more than anything. Primos is the only one out there that gets this right. Who cares about giant bucks? Big bucks are great, but it is the quality of the footage and the hunt itself that counts. I'd rather watch a well filmed quality hunt for does rather than the typical off the shelf type of video of a 180 class buck with all kinds of fake set up shots. Make the video footage of the hunt last more than 5 minutes. I can't stand it when from the time they enter the stand, until they are holding antlers is 5 minutes or less. It makes the hunt look too easy. We are hunters, we know that it takes hours of scouting and sitting to get a shot at a doe, let alone a monster buck. Let the footage reflect who your audience is. A little of the Road Trips concept goes a long way in my opinion. I don't mind seeing a little of the back at camp stuff, but spending half or more of the show on it in the current Road Trips fashion is too much. No "Dream Season" garbage either! Hunting should never be made into a game show (or a Scent Blocker info-mercial!). There are a few of my ideas. About anything is better than 3/4 of the garbage hunting programs that are out on the air waves right now. Primos is the best thing out there right now in my opinion. RT is good, but just not quite there yet. RT has the tallent, access to the land, and funding to out do Will and the Boys.

ksdeerhunter03
Re: Idea for Realtree Video Derek, you sound bitter, I think the "Dream Season" not only highlits good hunters, it allows everyone the chance to learn from it. the most novice hunters may pick up some great tips, advice etc... while even the most skilled hunters may pick something up as well. Bow Hunter Derek
Re: Idea for Realtree Video Not bitter at all. I just think that Dream Season fits in with all the other trash reality TV out there. Just because it is hunting does not make it any different from any of the other modern age game shows. Futher, I fully understand the need for advertising and product placement. But to beat it over everyone's head every 30 seconds as to how you can not possibly kill a deer without a product like Scent Blocker tends to become annoying (and down right a lie) after the first 15 minutes. I've gotten so that when Dream Season comes on, I change the channel, as I do with 3/4 of the shows anymore. The only tip that Dream Season has to offer is to wear your Scent Blocker. I've seen some good Drury videos with the exception to Dream Season. RT has some good shows, a few modifications and they would be the tops in my opinion. Primos is currently the tops. The guys from Sluggerhollow Productions have put out two very good videos. Tom Meranda is not to bad of a show. Tom Watson is pretty good too. North American Whitetail is good. (Stan Potts just irritates me a little ... good guy, I just find him a little over bearing) Not bitter, just tired of garbage "reality game show" TV. Mirage
Re: Idea for Realtree Video I am a big favorite of north american whitetail with stan potts, greg miller and the Pat reeves, i think they have a great show and wish there were more like it. Although Stan Potts gets a little strange when he gets a big deer i still like it alot

billygoat
Re: Idea for Realtree Video [ QUOTE ] Just letting you guys know, we are very open to suggestions for further DVD's and show ideas.. These days if you aren't looking ahead, you're getting left behind. [/ QUOTE ] OK Marc.... Here you go! More and more people are getting frustrated with not seeing all aspects of the hunt! So how about this: RT has a contest: applicants must be willing to commit to a 1 year project (involving home video) and a video shoot by RT cameras during an actual hunt (bow or gun). The video would be a documentary of a deer hunter. It would start during the winter/spring w/ scouting and "shed hunting"... home video would include the summer food plot preparations, "shopping" for new hunting supplies (kind of like the Blue Collar Guys in the mall".... Setting up of stands, clearing shooting lanes, appropriate Vidoe camera hanging... and then a video'd hunt.... You guys might be able to get 2-3 different documentaries... depending on the guys and the quality of the home video footage! I don't know, I guess, I think guys would like to know what goes into, growing and getting a trophy buck! And watching it on video, heck, I'd watch it! So make contestants acquire new land or lease w/in (x) amount of years... then have RT pro's offer their expertise, editorials on the video. It would come @ very little cost to RT, and actually, not a significant amount of time, w/ the exception of a few editorials, cutting room time for home video, and a video team for the 1 week hunt??? (alright, there's a little more time than that, but I think it would work!) Need a lease! Just picked up prime Wisconsin Hunting ground (lol, silly goat is always working an angle!) BowJoe
Re: Idea for Realtree Video I know this is Realtree Forum, but have any of you ever watched or heard of Dan Fitzgerald and Team Fitzgerald.com? When he and his son first started they did everything you folks have been saying you wanted to see. No BS, Doe Kills, Missed shots, Bow Only, Totally Instinctive, Literally explains everything and shows how hard the work is in taking game animals of all kinds. Very respectful and not a big budget production full of ...well...big celebrities. He helped Bob Foulkrod when no-one even knew his name and showed everything from taking groundhogs to chipmunks to wild boars to bowfishing to prairie dogs to antelope to mule deer to anything you can name. They even have a video of lessons in Instinctive Shooting. I learned a lot about bowhunting before I ever heard of Monster Bucks.(No Offense) Not to mention that Dan Fitzgerald is also blind in one eye and still hits dead center at 40 yrds. Have seen him do it on video. I admit that some of his later videos got really commercialized, but they used to not be and now he has gone back to less commercial products as compared to other Videos and in my oppinion is more worthy of induction into the Bowhunting Hall Of Fame than Mr. Foulkrod.
