Chrud
Re: Block Target Is Going Bad Already!!! What kind of broadheads are you shooting into it? I do the initial tuning with razor blades and then switch to practice blades on my Muzzy's. All that shredding on the ground shouldn't happen then. I usually shoot around the outside of the target also and don't stack the shots. Mine is holding up really well.
Guest fishermanwhohunts
Re: Block Target Is Going Bad Already!!! You guys Ever wonder why they have five dots on one side instestead of both sides blank to choose your own targets. You shoot each dot seperatey then guess how you would have grouped on one target. Field Logic means that you use the block with broad heads after transport for tuning.

I also learned that you dont shoot more than one arrow at each circle! I was slicing the fletchings off the other arrows! LOL! I normally shoot four arrows, one at each black circle. hutchies
Re: Block Target Is Going Bad Already!!! Seems to me like they would layer the foam the other way so that when you shoot it that it is absorbing the hit instead of trapping the arrow. Bow Hunter Derek
Re: Block Target Is Going Bad Already!!! There are obviously some good ones out there and some bad ones. I have a Black Hole target. I've had it for approaching 2 years now. I ran a quick calculation based on how much I shoot and it easily has around 5000 shots in it, all field tips. It looks almost as good as when I bought it. I've never had a pass through yet. Usually, green lable on the Gold Tip arrow shaft never makes it to the target face. Last winter, I set it up in my barn and shot it all winter from about 10 yards, using a bow that crono's over 300 fps and still never passed through. My point is, these targets do work, especially if you do not fling broadheads at them. It is crazy to assume that you can shoot multiple broadheads into them and have them last. The adds never tell you it will with stand that kind of action. Think about it when they say "and broad head removal is the easiest". Of course it is, because it is destroying the target. I shoot broad heads into a target my local shop has that has a clay center. It never wears out.

TreeStandBowHunter
Re: Block Target Is Going Bad Already!!! Well, aint this good to know...NOT I just bought me one about 2 months ago. I have shot probably 150 field tips and 25 or so broadheads in it already using Muzzy 4-blade 100gr. So far so good but I did realize though that it flakes pretty easy. I use one side or BH and another side for FT's. I guess we wait and see now! Thanks for the heads up John
buckee
Re: Block Target Is Going Bad Already!!! No target will hold up to broadheads for very long. I have the block too, but only shoot my broadheads enough to make sure they are flying the same as my field-tips. That's it....once I know they are flying the same, I switch back to field-tips only. There is really no need to shoot excessively at any target with broadheads, unless you have braodhead tuning problems.
too_pointer
Re: Block Target Is Going Bad Already!!! I have the black hole, and with my x-bow and b.h. it is a mess LOL. I can pass through if I'm not careful, I figure the block is similiar. too_
joebobhunter4
Re: Block Target Is Going Bad Already!!! its because you arent supposed to shoot broadheads into it ive got 1 too and for feild tips i shoot bout 100 a day and have had it bout a month so its got plenty shots in it and hardly ripped at all
Mirage
Re: Block Target Is Going Bad Already!!! i have maybe 1000 shots in my block then i shot maybe 25 broadheads not my block is done the arrows pass right through. I will try the old ratchet straps on it, thats a good idea but my deer targets dont last on broadheads either, If your black dots start to disapear try some black spay paint, i found it works well on the block
LifeNRA
Re: Block Target Is Going Bad Already!!! [ QUOTE ] its because you arent supposed to shoot broadheads into it [/ QUOTE ] You have to shoot BH sooner or later! Besides I knew it would eat the target as well! The ad even says FT, BH, and expandables! Yes I also knew if you shoot only FT it will last probably as long as they say!
horst
Re: Block Target Is Going Bad Already!!! I bought a block last spring and its probably the worst target i ever owned.Instead of the easy 2 finger removal they talked about you had to stand on it and use both hands to get your arrows back out.Field point, or broadheads, didnt matter, theyd either go straight through to the fletchings or theyd rip giant holes outta the foam trying to get your arrow back.I wont buy another one

Once I do my initial tuning with broadheads, I don't shoot them again until just before the hunt. Even then I only shoot about 9 or 10 shots. I stick dots along the sides and it other spots where there aren't any painted dots to shoot. Minimizing broadhead shots is a good idea and my Block has lasted a very long time. BowJoe
Re: Block Target Is Going Bad Already!!! I have The Block at my buddy's place set up in a gulley that I shoot from his pond dam which is almost 16 ft. higher. I turned the target on it's side and am now shooting arrows into the ground on my center shots. I think I will turn the target right side up and just abuse the heck out of it until I can't use it anymore. I think that if you shoot your broadheads into any type of target you will hurt it's longevity no matter what it is unless its gel. Then you would have a 150 lb target that leaves a stench on your arrows. I think I will just use the back side to fine tune my broadheads and the front for FT's. AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Block Target Is Going Bad Already!!! I seen an ad in a hunting magazine and it had the competitors target making fun of the Block and saying it was better. Not sure who it was but the pictures of the Block showed all the shreddings that your pictures show. They had them piled up and I thought it was just deceptive adverstising. I guess the Block really does shred up like the ad says, then again razor sharp broadheads will do that! Maybe in the Block's ad you see in magazines with all the pros, instead of having block party, they should have a shooting party to demonstrate the Blocks shooting ability and if it holds up. Guest deerhntnwithdogs
Re: Block Target Is Going Bad Already!!! To be honest I have never seen one do that before wow. Maybe you just got a bad one from the factory and it wasnt packed tight enuff idunno. They last a good time at the range that I used to work at weve probly have customers put a total of 30000 shots in 5 1/2 bales (1/2 because the place used to be a garage and the garage part is the 20 yard range with those bigol' pylons goin downt the center so they hide one half of a bale) over the course of 2 or 3 years and they are goin strong. I have never seen anything like that before hmmm...
