huntrman
Tonight I went out and shot my bow like normal, but I wanted to experiment a little. Last year before opening day I tried and tried to tune in some Muzzy 4 blade broadheads with my Martin Altitude, but just couldn't get them to fly like I wanted so I thought I'd try the new Grim Reapers. Took a nice doe with them and probably won't change, but I thought I'd try something with my new Hoyt Ultramag tonight. So I got out the Muzzy 4 blades again and screwed one into one of my new Beman ICS's. Pulled back the bow, put the pin on the vitals on the deer target, let the arrow fly and was amazed. The arrow hit just about 1 inch to the right. Went to retrieve my arrow and do it all over again. Shot another arrow and the same result. Pretty interesting to know that my new Hoyt is set up even better than my old Martin, which I thought was set up perfect. The only thing is, I shot a different arrow(still same Beman ICS) with the Grim Reapers on it, shot the broadhead with blades down like an expandable is and hit perfect. Got that arrow and "locked" the blades into an open position so it was shooting like a fixed blade broadhead and hit the EXACT spot as the last one I fired. So needless to say I won't be switching from the Reapers, but good to know that if they fail I can now shoot the Muzzy's. Happy camper here. So if you are having trouble sighting in fixed blade broadheads you can either move your sight, buy expandables(Grim Reapers is what I recommend), or what I would do is take it to make sure it is set up properly and everything is perfect.
