No Registered Guns...No P.O.L.!!

My boss is a certified Firearms verifier...all non-registered firearms that you want to get registered must be verified for authenticity and no modifications.

He was contacted by a gentleman last week to verify his guns. Apparently, this elderly gentleman has never recieived his registration info (if it was ever sent, I don't know), and his P.O.L. is about to expire. The firearms registry sent him notice that his P.O.L. would not be renewed as he did not have any registered guns.

So, be aware all of you 'hold-outs'...no registered guns = no P.O.L. ...which means you'll have to take the P.A.L. course, and get a registered gun.

Just a 'heads up'.

Does anyone on here think the registering system is a good idea?

I definetly don't! I think all of the stuff we have to go through in Canada to be able to own and use firearms to hunt is absolutely rediculous! All it is is a big farce put on us by the Government. crazy.gifmad.gif

Re: No Registered Guns...No P.O.L.!!

Well I got my Manitoba's Hunter Safety in '98, not knowing that 6 years later they would have this "Bill C-68". Now i have to go for my Canadian Firarm Safety course, (even though I have been handling my firearms with competence and great respect for seven years) just so I can get my pal to buy ammo (Pal and CFAC will all together cost me over $100) .

Factor in tags and gas, (1.04), it almost sounds like those liberals don't want us hunting. (I know they have little control over tags and gas and that tags contribute greatly to conservation). i just feel like I am getting the REAL short end of the stick here when a guy in alberta kills 4 cops (correct me if I'm wrong) and I am the one who has to pay to register guns. This stupid bill doesn't bring the cops back nor does it discriminate against the dangerous folks. Perhaps the only discrimination this bill poses is to the people who are fincially vunreble or short on time.

Just my two cents, sorry bout the long post, it's been rubbing me the wrong way.

Re: No Registered Guns...No P.O.L.!!

Same here. The prov. boys want nothing to do with it.My dad is an instructor & he tried to get them to check it.The response was that it was Federal & they wanted nothing to do with it.There are not to many Federal CO's around here.Ya you may have gotten lucky but unless It's RCMP or a Federal CO I dont think they will check.I heard of a incodent in Gravelberg (sp?) last year of a new RCMP officer in the area checking every hunter that stopped @ the local gas station for individual registration cards for each weapon. Now that is stupid.Anyone else remember that?Guns were confiscated if you didnt have the card for that weapon that yo had with you.
