MCH
Re: how do you sight in your bows? One answer for all three: I shoot year around. I hardly ever touch my sights unless I'm replacing them or trying out new equipment: rest, arrows, etc. If I were to sight in some new equipment, I prefer using the "electrical tape" method. I take two pieces of white paper and place a strip of electrical tape down the middle of each. I use one to sight in my windage(place the paper with the tape up and down) and the other for elevation(tape straight across). You can also make an X to use for final adjustments, but I just use my normal target face.
Guest antlers21
Re: how do you sight in your bows? I am with mch, I shoot almost year round. Actually about 10 months out of the year and I dont mess with them either until this year when I put on my new sights but that was months ago. tedicast
Re: how do you sight in your bows? Have to agree with mch, and Antler. In the past 2 years I would have to say that the most I have gone without shooting the bow is probably 10 days. When I sight in a new sight, I just start up close, getting my 20 yard pin set, and work back from there. I have actually changed sights, and taken a measurement off the arrow for each pin, and been really close. If you are changing sights, its a good way to get on the target. You will still need to do some fine tuning.
dg
Re: how do you sight in your bows? If it's newly installed stuff, I find 10 yds. Then go back and fine tune 20, then 30, 40, and 50. Then I see if my 20 yd pin hits a vertical line at 40 & 50. If it doesn't then the pins may need tweaked or centershot adjusted.
VtBowhunter
Re: how do you sight in your bows? I start out at 10 yards to get started. From there I step back to 20 to get the elevation sighted in.....then back to 30 for that elevation........then back to 40 for that elevation and center-line......after that it's just sighting in the rest of the yardages.....50, 60, and 70. Guest shtr
Re: how do you sight in your bows? The day that there is dust on my bow will be a little while after I am dead. Once set, sights dont move unless you do something to them. If you dont shoot for awhile, your anchor, ect. can change and then you have to adjust but other than that....nothing. Smitteken
Re: how do you sight in your bows? I have a 25 yard pin and shoot solely with that. I have 2 other pins that are just there. I may tune one for 40 yds just for reference.
ladydiehard
Re: how do you sight in your bows? I have all new equipment. I started out at 10 yards and I'm shooting tight groups. However, the groups are about 2 inches to the right and about an inch and a half low. I haven't made any adjustments yet but I'm about to do so. I wanted to be sure that it wasn't something I was doing to make it shoot to the right and low. Especially since I am using a release for the first time. But the shots have been consistent so I believe its adjustment time.
