AJ
I have had a couple of 45-70 guns. I load them to the .450 Marlin level. They will do the job an anything on this continent.
Guest Colorado Bob
Re: marlin 450 I got a 444. I plan on using it year on a caribou hunt & then again in TX on a hog hunt. Big bores are addicting ! CB What kind of scope did you put on that 450? I got a Leupold VarX-II 1x4 on my 444. Good scope for a big bore !! Guest ronin
Re: marlin 450 I used to hunt with my Marlin Guide Gun in jacked up 45/70 loads almost exclusively. I topped it off recently with a Leupold Scout IER Scope to give me a bit more range. I have shot monster hogs, bear, deer, even yotes with it. I would say it is my top producing gun in the safe. David_218
Re: marlin 450 I own a custom built .458 X 2" AMERICAN on a Remington M-722 Bolt action. The .450 is actually based on this wildcat cartridge developed by Frank C. Barnes back in 1962. With full loads it will take any North American Big Game at medium ranges. It can be handloaded down using 300 grain bullets loaded to 2,000 FPS which is powerful neough for Deer and the recoil is not too bad. The Full loads DO KICK! So be aware that if you buy a .450 Marlin, it will have recoil as does the .458 X 2" AMERICAN.
