sureshot
Re: Comments new Sask deer tags? Ryan I guess that si what it is going to take to get things changed, soemone this fall will get charged with not taggin properly and they will win couse there is no way these tags will work!! ALl we have to do is what they say on the tag and if they fall off they fall off try to charge me, and I knwo the wardens at least here agree they know its crap, the reasoning they give is they can keep the tags from year to year at the sale departments! LOL another joke!!Spend hundred to save 5!!!

Saskbuck40
Re: Comments new Sask deer tags? I have another question for SERM. What was the problem with the string tags in the first place? Really?I never had a problem with them, they were great. Why change a good thing? IowaDeerHunter
Re: Comments new Sask deer tags? They sound like really crappy tags if you ask me. I am sorry I don't have any ideas for keeping them on. can you put a little peice of duct tape around the end of it??? I dont know. Cut through the tendon are in one of the back legs, and put it through thee and tape ir or something.
Guest shedhunter
Re: Comments new Sask deer tags? We just got back from a 5 day Mule Deer hunt by Eastend Sask, and we have already used 9 of the 15 tags. When blood got on them they wouldn't stick, so we had to use rope to tie them back on. Very poor over all.
sasksheds
Re: Comments new Sask deer tags? Here's a tip so the antlers dont get stained or glue on them.Take a kleenex or some toilet paper & rap it around the antler before puting the tag on it.The tag will stick to the tissue & not the horns. You can always trim the tissue after. It works we tried it twice on Sat. SaskBucks
Re: Comments new Sask deer tags? The peeling of the backing does not come off in one swoop...tried to put on my hide tag, got blood on it and then it wouldn't stick together...what a pain in the ****
SaskMan
Re: Comments new Sask deer tags? Yes they are BRUTAL and we need to get something different but I don't like the string ones either, here's why!!! Yesterday a friend stopped by my house at around 11:00. He had shot a buck that morning about 3 miles from my place and was coming to see how my brother and I had made out. When he got here he was totally frazzled, about 1 1/2 miles west of my place he had seen the "Biggest Live Buck I'll ever see in my life". It was a monster buck, high, wide, massy with what he said was likely an 8-10" drop tine. It was standing just off the road, against the big woods. He said he rolled his window down and stared at it for 30 seconds before driving away leaving it standing there still. He confessed that the thought of shooting it crossed his mind even though he already had one in the truck. I'm **** glad he didn't but some people would have. He said he though about how to get the tags off the buck he'd shot in the morning but knew it was not possible. Disposing of the other buck would have been easy in the big woods, the tag switch wouldn't have, with the old string tags it would have taken about 30 seconds. I know that it is not good to think about doing something like that and the bottom line is that he drove away from the biggest deer he'll likely ever see but the fact of the matter is that too many people would not drive away, they would do what for a few seconds crossed him mind. What I'm trying to say is that the old tags made for doing stuff like that possible, these don't. Maybe Serm has to meet in the middle and come up with something non transferable for the antlers, like a band of some sort and the string ones for the meat and hide, that way they couldn't be switched b/c of the antler band and the string tags would be easier to handle. Fact of the matter some people, let me rephrase that, too many people will poach and the string tags made it easier. SERM needs to do something but it is very unlikely they'll do anything to help either the hunters or the wildlife in the province.
Guest BeerSlayer1
Re: Comments new Sask deer tags? Here's another dumb thing about the tags. SERM is trying to get rid of the unallocated mulie tags and the only way to get one is to phone the office in Regina and they'll send them out from there. They only print them on Fridays, so if you phone on a Monday, they won't be printed til Friday and then you have to wait for the mail or courier to deliver it. I tagged my W.T. opening day and still wanted to hunt when my brother came out, so I phoned last Thursday to get a couple and was told that the supervisor was taking Friday off and they had already printed out that week's tags a day early and I was out of luck. They made an exception for me and printed another set, but jeez, this is hunting season and a person can't wait 2 weeks for a tag.

SaskMan
Re: Comments new Sask deer tags? Superguide, you kow where my house is. I'll say 1 1/2 miles west, that'll put you almost where he was standing.
superguide
Re: Comments new Sask deer tags? I hear ya but I better let him grow up for you next year lol. Guess what my 'dull' friends are whining around town that I'm wrecking their deer season cause I hunt on foot and they can't shoot from their truck into my place. What a waste of a hunting suit.
