Guest elk5bs
This is my first elk hunt with a ML. I have 50cal. Omega. What would be a good load to start with and how high should I go? I know accuracy counts. I want a load and bullet that will do the job.
Guest Colorado Bob
Re: elk hunt Are you hunting in Colorado. If so, then sabots are illegal. My buddy & I use T/C Maxi-balls. He has a 50, mine is a 54. Pretty sure he used a 400 grain soft lead . Gun was a T/C Hawken that was built from a kit. 100 grain of black powder was his most accurate load. It did the trick on a few Colorado bulls over the years. Go luck CB
Guest elk5bs
Re: elk hunt Thanks Bob, I have a Az bull permit. We can use Sabot , Conical. I'm using Powerbilt 358 @100gr w/777, I can hold a 2in. at 100 yds. Will this do the job?

Guest ronin
Re: elk hunt My experience with my Omega has been that the Hornady SST with 150 gr of pyrodex or 777 work great. They have a set up now with the pyrodex and sabot already preset for loading.
