LifeNRA
Re: What Modifications Have You Made To Your Treestand Is the stand TMA approved? I just added the side bags to my Summit, thats it! I dont want to add anymore.
HarvDog
Re: What Modifications Have You Made To Your Treestand Mine came with the following: - a rope connecting the platform to the seat (I'm not losing that thing while I'm climbing) - padded seat and backrest (ah....nice) - padded backpack straps (makes it comfortable to carry) - rapid climb stirrups (which make it very easy to slide me feet in and out) - side saddle bags (very useful for storage and haulin' crap around) I tossed a safety strap and utility rope in one of the saddle bags. I'll use the safety strap to secure the seat once I've reached hunting height. The platform should be fine without a strap. The utility rope will be for pulling up my gear. This would include a moveable hooks and other small utility hooks. Finally, I may use some 3D breakup camo tape on the platform...we'll see. ruttinbuc
Re: What Modifications Have You Made To Your Tree [ QUOTE ] I got home last night and put the stand up on the power pole [/ QUOTE ] If you want to be able to add accessories to it and hunt from it I suggest you stop using the power pole! There is reason they tell you not to use them or at least it should be in the guidelines.

I seen that on the DVD that came with my Summit!

dg
Re: What Modifications Have You Made To Your Tree All I did was attach a hook so I can wind up my pull rope on the side. That way I never forget it and it's never tangled.

Rhino
Re: What Modifications Have You Made To Your Treestand My climbing stands came with most of the stuff you're adding like. 1. Strap with a hook attachement from top section to bottom section. 2. Straps that clamp together for the top and bottom section to prevent either from slipping once you're where you want to be in the tree. 3. Cushion with a back rest (not attached to the stand). 4. Shoulder staps for backpacking in and out. 5. Painted. I added the following and leave them attached on all my climnbers: 1. bow holder 2. 25' to 30' of pull up rope. I also carry in my fanny pack hooks to screw in the tree for hanging my binocs, rangefinder, fanny pack, etc. Never had a problem with the foot strap slipping because of its design. johnf
Re: What Modifications Have You Made To Your Treestand I put 2 chords from the top to the bottom, one in front and one in back. When I was practicing it in my back yard the bottom slipped and the one chord in the front left the bottom part of the stand dangling about a foot out of my reach. Thankfully I was only about 6 feet off the ground and I just jumped down. Before you go out in the woods with it I would make sure that if you drop the bottom, it's not out of your reach. I also got some foam padding and padded anything that I thought I might bump my gun or bow with and coverd it with camo tape. Make sure you practice as much as you can befor you go into the woods with it.
Newarcher
Re: What Modifications Have You Made To Your Trees I was forever looking for a place to put my quiver--I don't hunt with it on for many reasons. After dropping it and all my spare arrows overboard one day and not wanting to go get them, I decided action was in order. I bought an extra quick detach bracket for my Bohning Lynx and screwed it to the side of my climber platform just under my right elbow when sitting. After climbing up, I take the quiver off and put it in the stand mounted bracket. Completely out of the way yet close for a follow up shot. I can even loosen an arrow to make a follow-up shot quicker...not that I will ever need it! New
BowJoe
Re: What Modifications Have You Made To Your Trees I modified my API Shooting Star a bit. I taped all of the pads with RealTree camo tape, packed 2 bungee cords in my accs. bag and I use the EZhanger for the rest of my stuff. I also use a hook from my pack to hang my pack on and I also painted my climber with black spray paint stripes at random making sure to paint all edges. So far, I think it looks a lot better and fits my function quite nicely.
The_Kat
Re: What Modifications Have You Made To Your Trees I bought the same stand from wal-mart. The quick attach pins are noisy.....any ideas to keep them from clanking? Also, the rubber creaks when you stand???
Guest longknife
Re: What Modifications Have You Made To Your Trees Try using a bungee cord to go from side of stand to the other around the back side of tree, but tight as you can what this does is tightens the stand to the tree so you don't lose the bottom of the climber,i know been there don't that. Also try for camoflaging the stand use the leafy material that comes in sheets.Wrap your stand in that and you will amazed by that.Done mine in this and boy what a diffrence.
