Should I Move?

I set up my Tree Lounge on a tree today in a spot I have not hunted in a couple years. I scouted the spot this morning and liked what I saw. So after I put the stand on the tree I decided to climb up just to make sure all was good and I heard someone walking towards me. He put his climber on a tree about 75-100 yards from me. He saw me up there and everything. I climbed down and decided not to walk over to him. I walked out to my atv, and his was parked right next to mine!!! Rifle season starts tomorrow and he will probably be there. No biggie to me as I am not planning on hunting this spot until monday. This is public land so I cannot "kick" him off. What a bummer.

Re: Should I Move?

Jim-

I am in the same boat however the other guy is right on our boarder not more then 100 yards behind me. My ridge line is a hot spot and I have no doubt he will or wants to shoot on my side.

I am leaving my stand there and will hunt it when I want. If I see him in his then I will go and have a chat with him... I posted about this in another post too.

I know that in years past the guys that hunt that back property always push deer on to mine. I have other spots too so I will not be in this one that much. Maybe a couple days at best.

I have a deer camp to visit too.

In your case I might move a bit further away, 100 yards is pretty close during rifle season on public land...

Re: Should I Move?

I know how it is with the public land,i hunt ALOT of it.I do think that i would let the guy know that you may hunt there from time to time, just to let him know you may be walking in the area and maybe find out when he may be moving around. It makes it alot safer to know where people are.

Re: Should I Move?

Not too sure, the leasees behind us have some stands pretty close to our lines and I hunt a stand that is about 80 yards off my line. I come in a way that I am never in their line of fire. Elevation is higher on my side of the river. Sometimes when they are coming in I hear deer blowing and heading my way. Think I might take the chance that he might not be around Monday morning and get in early and hunt it.
