slugshooter
Been following the news a little regarding Lance, some Paris newspaper is reporting that he tested positive for EPO in a urine sample taken when he won his first tour, 7 years ago. The sample is also from a batch considered the B batch which can't be used. Even the tour director has said that "Lance duped us" What I can't figure out is why they are making such a big deal out of it. He was clean 7 years ago, now all of a sudden he testspositive, and the fact that more people have taken notice of the Tour de France only because of him. Sounds like they are upset that he won't be in it anymore and thus will lose the attention they have been getting.

DSGB
Re: Lance Armstrong I definately do not know all the facts, but on Outside the Lines they said the tests back then could not detect those substances. I hope it's not true, but everything I've heard makes me believe he did it. [ QUOTE ] No tests for EPO were available in 1999, when the A sample was tested and later discarded. EPO increases the red blood corpuscles that carry oxygen to muscles [/ QUOTE ] EPO

muggs
Re: Lance Armstrong First of all, EPO will not make someone win 7 straight Tours. And even if he did take it, I'm sure he's not the only bike rider on the Tour using the stuff. Not to mention, this was a story create by a French magazine....French...enough said. I doubt it's true. HuntingInMaine
Re: Lance Armstrong I think someone's got a hair across their rear. 7 years is a long time for someone to be able to mess with the sample! I say let it go....he's still got 6 other victories where he tested clean.

[/ QUOTE ] Can't say it much better than this. He's still one of my heroes. I don't care if he won 7 tours, or zero tours, in my book he's a hero because he beat the beast, and that's inspiration enough for me.
