Texan_Til_I_Die
You're hunting the last day of the season. There are two deer standing in front of you. One is an absolute monster, the buck of a lifetime. The other is a medium sized 8 point with a badly broken leg and he can barely walk. Which would you shoot? Think about it before you answer and be honest!
RangerClay
Re: Another \"What would you do?\" I'll take the 5th ammendment on this one. I have a solution with my wifes tag but it bends the rules a little Ranger
Guest Andrea
Re: Another \"What would you do?\" Shoot the monster. Since the other can hardly walk...I figure he won't go far so I'd shoot him next.
AaronS
Re: Another \"What would you do?\" I'd shoot the monster, make note of where the crippled buck went, then find a willing friend with a tag to try to take the crippled buck. muggs
Re: Another \"What would you do?\" Here in Ohio we're only allowed one buck per season, regardless of conditions, situations etc... So I'd shoot the monster Then I'd try to find someone I know who would be willing to take the injured deer and put on some drives. If that doesn't work, I figure nature will take it's cause on the hurt buck.
Big_Bubbles
Re: Another \"What would you do?\" well prolly the monster, ill see where the 8 point went , and then go get em
MCH
Re: Another \"What would you do?\" Honestly? I'd probably take the 8 pointer out of his misery. I'm a sucker for strays and hurt animals. It's definitely not a decision that I would make instantly. In a real life situation, they would probably have time to walk off before I got around to drawing....

ilhnter
Re: Another \"What would you do?\" I would definatly shoot the monster. Deer are tough and he would probably be fine in a couple weeks. I just don't see how anyone would be able to pass on the buck of a lifetime. booner1331
Re: Another \"What would you do?\" Monster Buck Down..... Sorry but nature will take care of the other, or again try and find it later to put it down
Turkeygirl
Re: Another \"What would you do?\" Since I'd only have one buck tag when hunting with my shotgun, I'd go with the injured buck, he probably won't live, it would be humane, and I would feel better about it, not too mention if he died somewhere, it would be a waste of good meat God provided. Let the big buck spread his genes.
VTbowman
Re: Another \"What would you do?\" I would without a doubt shoot the monster. In all honesty I would. The humaine thing would be to put this lame deer out of his misery of coarse but nature has a way of taking care of that too... Its my beleif that a lame deer will be processed back into the circle of life fairly quickly. JMO Buck of a life time no doubt Id shoot it. TreeStandBowHunter
Re: Another \"What would you do?\" Well, I didn't look at any of the other answers so I am anxious to see who was honest and who wasn't. I won't lie to you, I would take the Moster. I don't know if it is the right thing to do but that's what I would do. Hopefully a car will hit the broken one someday soon and put it out of it's misery. Plus, a deer with a broken leg can usually walk and live on 3 legs
tedicast
Re: Another \"What would you do?\" Thats a real tough call. Been thinking about it for a bit now. I really want to say that I would put the 8 point out of his misery. I think I would sleep better at night. Until I was in theat situation, it is hard to say for sure. Mach1
Re: Another \"What would you do?\" Monster. I've seen deer survive with the use of only three legs. If he survived, I think it would make him a much more difficult deer to hunt because he would probably only move when absolutely necessary. Therefore, it would be more of a challenge to hunt him in future deer seasons due to this extreme lack of movement. Or it could be that due to the lack of movement, he would be easier to hunt because he might stay in a smaller section of habitat and his routine could be monitored more easily. Have I gone off my rocker with this answer?

wtnhunt
Re: Another \"What would you do?\" Depends really, how old does the injury appear to be and how severe? Have I seen this monster buck before and what are the chances of seeing him again? Have I seen or gotten pics of the crippled buck? If the deer were so badly crippled, he would likely already be coyote food around here. If he was getting around well enough to elude the yotes, he would probably be fine. I would most likely take out the monster, and then let my daughter kill the little guy on the late youth hunt that opens the weekend after our season closes.
