ruttinbuc
Anyone have any advice on a good brand and style of shooting sticks? Thanks.
WaCoyote
Re: Shooting sticks I use the stoney point fold up type and LOVE them. They weigh nothing and are a huge help especially if you hunt where there is nothing available for a rest and grasses will not allow prone. Get them, you'll love them. AJ
Re: Shooting sticks I too have the Stoney Point Shooting Sticks. They fold up into a very compact package. They are also sturdy enough to make accurate shots. Very good product. You can also make your own out of old arrows, wooden dowels, broomsticks, ets. ruttinbuc
Re: Shooting sticks There are a couple different types. Should I get the ones I can shoot standing with?
WaCoyote
Re: Shooting sticks I think that depends on the person. The ones for sitting are more compact and your going to be more steady. I can't think of a reason I'd need the standing type. Brush would have to be real deep for that. I think I'd go with the shorter ones. hutchies
Re: Shooting sticks Yep the shorter ones seem like the best idea to me too. I cant decide weather to buy the Stoney Points or to put a bipod on my gun.
AJ
Re: Shooting sticks [ QUOTE ] I cant decide weather to buy the Stoney Points or to put a bipod on my gun. [/ QUOTE ] For me, thats easy. I will take the sticks over the bipod anytime. They are a lot more versitile than a bipod. The biggest benefit is when they are not needed, they are in a pouch on your belt, in your pack, etc. They are out of the way and are lightweight. A bipod on the other hand, when not needed, is still hanging on the end of the stock. They are heavy and make the gun a pain to swing for shooting a moving target. I have also seen a few of the cheaper synthetic stocks have their front swivel stud pull thrugh the stock from bipods with slings attached. Basically, I am not a fan of bipods. hutchies
Re: Shooting sticks Thanks for the tip AJ. That was the only reason I like the sticks is when I don't need them they are just on my side.
