Re: how old where you when...

My first deer was taken when I was 14 years old. I shot a doe with my my brand new muzzle loader I got for christmas the year before. She weighed in at 135lbs. dressed. I was the happiest guy in the woods! Ill never forget my first deer, especially because I got to take it with my grandfather the year before he died.

Re: how old where you when...

I started hunting when I was 13 and got my first deer at 14. Should have had a nice 9 point my first year but I got a BAD CASE of buck fever, and I mean BAD. I know he was a nice 9 cause my uncle that was with me shot him since I couldn't raise the gun lol.

At any rate, I got my first deer, a doe (actually a buck that lost antlers) during our extended doe season in Allegheny County using my 870. Shot it on Jan 4th I believe it was and man was it COLD.

Re: how old where you when...

I was fairly old when I got my 1st. Shot archery since I was 12 but never hunted really until I went into the USAF.

I started seriously hunting when I was 19 and was 21 when I got my 1st with a borrowed 30.06. It was a nice 4 pointer. I had hunted quite a bit before that but never closed the deal on a deer. Got a few wild pigs on Guam with my bow though befoire that.

I did go out hunting with my dad abnd grandfather when I was younger but never got a shot off on any of those trips. I did not go much when I was younger.

Sports a girls took up most of my time. LOL

I was 10 and shot a spike with a .270. I didn't prop myself right while leaning against a tree on a hill and it rolled me! My granddad was laughing his head off! Put a nice hole in the neck and dropped it. Thank goodness, because that's not where I was aiming........ grin.gif

I took my first deer with a bow, 3 pt. I was 17. I then took a buck with the bow for the next 15 yrs. not bad in Pa. Then I started getting fussy, I took a 20 inch 7pt. 4 yrs ago. took a 18 inch 8 pt. 2 yrs ago. I still fill a doe tag every year with the bow, but save the buck tag for a little better deer.
