Well Jeff fought his way back into the chase, with a 6th. place finish....... smile.gifsmile.gif,,now off to California,,another great track for Jeff.....

One question tho WHAT THE HECK IS UP WITH CARL EDWARDS ??? He runs over two cars and gets NO penalty,,but Jarret gets one for his deal with Newman,,,man that's crazy..... crazy.gifconfused.gifconfused.gif

Jr. did an awsome job a Bristol he might just have a chance if his luck holds out....

Congrats to Kenseth on his dominate win.... cool.gifsmile.gif

Jr. is a long shot, but it is definately looking good for gordon. Cali, and Richmond coming up. He does great at both tracks. Jarrets dumping of Newman may be the bonehead move of the year! Good to see Edwards, and Petty working it out on pit road in a civil manner.

Re: Gordon back in the hunt ....

I agree Jarret's move was boneheaded,,,but I would say Edwards was just as blatent,,,,working it out on pitroad after the race still doesn't excuse the behavior..IMO...but atleast he was man enough to listen to what Kyle had to say and shake his hand,,,

But he still should have been penalized just like Jarret was...... crazy.gif

Just remember the last 2 races at Fontana AND Richmond...Gordon had 2 blown motors and I believe 4 finishes outside the top-35. Anything can happen yet. wink.gif

Carl went into the corner harder than the two Petty cars. DJ waited for Newman to get on his outside and intentionally turned up into him.

Wasn't I called crazy in March when I compared DJ to JJ and called him a hot head? confused.gifwink.gif

So that's an lagitament excuse to run over 2 cars ????... crazy.gifcrazy.gif.....Knowing that he didn't have position twice.....he just runs them over, instead of waiting for an opening...To me that's just plain crazy.....or maybe Im just missing something....

And as for anything happening,,,,Man why do you always have to steal what litle hope I have..... grin.gifgrin.gifwink.gif,,I'll keep a positive outlook, and keep pulling for my driver.... wink.gif

Luke.. I know you have never witnessed a race in person. You have to see it in real life to understand how fast one can close on another if one doesn't get on the gas, or is loose. I have seen that at many short tracks. I can't image what it is like in a cup car at Bristol. I would definately say that Edwards didn't intend to dump the 2 Petty cars. The fact is that I'm sure the Rousch cars were handling better, and he was getting into the gas off the corners a lot earlier, giving him a ton of momentum. There isn't much time to react to anything at a track where you are turning laps in the 15 second range.

Image 500 laps of 3 seconds on the straight, then 4 seconds of corner, and repeat that 1000 times over 500 laps. Anything could happen, and ussually does at Bristol. Just typical Bristol racing. and by looking at Petty and Edwards after the race, I think they both knew it. Kyle was more comforting him when the camera was on him than threatening, and Carl looked like he was gonna cry.

Bristol isn't the hardest ticket in Nascar to get for no reason...lol

Re: Gordon back in the hunt ....

I'll have to ponder that explanation for awhile John,,,,I can see where that would make sense,,,if it hadn't happened twice within a few laps of each other( well maybe more than a few laps ) but still twice in the same race to the same team....But hey I'll give him the benifit of the doubt,,,,he is young and needs to learn patience IMO.......but man what a race... wink.gifwink.gif

Kenseth was a rocket,,but would have loved to see Burton win this one... wink.gif

Re: Gordon back in the hunt ....

You can understand DJ's fustration...he first got ran over by Rusty (Penske car) then later on gets run over by Newman (another Penske car). It would be hard not to "rub" back. Harvick was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

As far as penalties...just goes back to how Nascar does things...some they do something about, others they over look it.

Re: Gordon back in the hunt ....

Jeff definitely earned every spot he got last night. I knew he probably wouldn't get the win as long as Kenseth stayed out of trouble, Matt was just too strong.

As for Carl Edwards, I don't believe his bumps on Green or Petty were intentional, unless there was a little feud going on that nobody knows about, Dale Jarrett was just plain ole stupid and obviously intentionally hit Ryan, NASCAR should have parked his rear right then and there. I am glad that Kyle and Carl were discussing the matter like decent human beings instead of being childish, I remember Kyle used to be kind of a hot head, remember him and Bobby Hillin at Daytona in '91 or '92.

P.S.- Is it just me, but when Kyle and Carl were sitting there talking, does Carl look a little like Adam Petty to ya'll, sure does to me.

Re: Gordon back in the hunt ....

What really gets me is that, NASCAR Nextel Cup director John Darby said Jarrett faces no further penalties. A two lap hold in the pits doesn't seem to fit the bill to me,,,,,,Where's the heavy penaltys that NASCAR said they were going to impose on blantet retaliations and infractions..... confused.gifconfused.gif

And has for Carl Edwards maybe I read more into the situation than there really was....but from the incar cam it sure looked like he meant to run into these cars,,he never lifted to avoid them,,,,but like was mentioned by John it's Bristol and the time reactions just aren't there......It was great to see Kyle and Carl discussing it like human beings instead of irrate kids.... grin.gifwink.gif
