leatherneck
I have noticed that everyonce in a while, but not every time that my wrist breaks over after I release my arrow. I am right handed, and when it does this, my bow is pointed slightly to the left which in return is sending my arrow that way. I have seen wrist wraps, but have never used one. Is that something that I need to try? Thanks, Leather

colescott1
Re: Help!! PRACTICE! gotta work on that to correct your form, rather than relying on a bandaid product. That's what I would do, anyway.
ZooBear
Re: Help!! I would invest in a wrist sling and try shooting open handed. This should solve your torque problem.
MCH
Re: Help!! Definitely practice shooting open handed or with a relaxed grip. A wrist sling is needed to keep from dropping the bow. I've seen some shooters have their wrist sling so tight around their wrist that it actually causes them to torque the bow. If you do purchase a wrist sling, remember, its there to keep you from dropping your bow, not to keep your wrist in a certain position. Keep it loose around your wrist. Any type of resistance could cause torquing.

By open handed do yall mean having the bow pressed against my hand between my index finger and thumb, with finger strait out? Thanks for the help guys

MCH
Re: Help!! Some shoot with fingers straight out, some shoot with them just slightly relaxed. If you shoot with fingers straight out, you have to worry about slicing yourself with a broadhead, so be careful there. Make sure you do not have a high grip. The bow should rest against your full palm. A high grip will be evident if at full draw and you're only feeling resistance between the thumb and index finger. buckee
Re: Help!! I open my grip hand when drawing the bow, Letting the bow find it's own spot in my hand, and then just bring my finger tips back to touch the front of the grip slightly, without grasping it in any way. Not stiff open hand, but relaxed, with fingers pointing toward the target until full draw. When I bring my finger tips back to touch the front of the grip, it seems to give me a little more stability, without actually gripping my bow. (and like MCH mentioned above...taking the fear out of getting sliced) I like having the wrist sling, because it gives me that confidence, that my bow isn't going to go flying out of my hand, especially when I'm shooting from up in my treestand. Keep your grip hand relaxed, to prevent torqueing, all the way through your shot

bigbuckdown70
Re: Help!! you might want to try using a stabilizer (if you dont have one) it will make it easer and more balanced when shoting with a open hand
VTbowman
Re: Help!! May I add that, if you use a wrist strap type release, that you should also keep those fingers and thumb limp as well. Do not grip your release at all (unless designed for it). Even though most come with a rotating head, you can still torque them at full draw with all the pressure thats on them. Once I went to the both hands having fingers and thumb limp method. My groups shrunk dramatically. Just my 2 cents.
BowtechTurkeyHunter
Re: Help!! Practice your form if the brace works then great I would try that. I wuld try it with out the brace and practice on my form without seems like just one more thing to get in your way!
Smitteken
Re: Help!! wrist sling. I can't shooot without one, I feel naked. I shoot completely open handed all the time though. I've never had a torque problem this way. But take the others' advice. Don't strap it down tight. Leave it loose its a just in case type thing. too_pointer
Re: Help!! I used to have alot of problems gripping my bow too hard. A relaxed grip means everything !! Really good advice in here, try it too_
