Re: What\'s the best deer stand name you\'ve had?

Got a few..

1.Bigfoot- box stand that is about 25 ft. up the air and that is just plain big.

2. Twin towers- This one is kinda sentimental. We had and old box stand that was there for yrs and was pretty torn up so we replaced it w/ another, but left the old one there just for memories and labled them the "twin towers"

3. Brown Stand- Simply bc the tin is painted brown.

4. Nick-knock- Bc its loud and made of tin and the slightest movement either makes a nick or a knock

Re: What\'s the best deer stand name you\'ve had?

Most of our stands our named after the hunter who built it.

Like Brian's stand

Johnnys stand or

Johnnys old stand.

We used to have a spot called the rock pile. Basically what it was, was a pile of rocks in the middle of a plowed field. Two years ago the farmer remove the pile, so we built a 4'x4' stand on stilts just on the edge of the field.

I guess this would be a weird name for stand now, because we call that The Rock Pile now.

These are the locations where we hang our stands:

- The Bathtub (old tub used for watering cows decades ago)

- The Oil Can

- The Milk Can

- The Blue Birdhouse

- The Big Rock in the Brook

- The Roost (newly named....VtBowman can confirm why)

- Oakflat

- The Hanging Rock

- Gramp's Tree

- The Iron Gate

There are more but I can't think of them right off.

Re: What\'s the best deer stand name you\'ve had?

the rogers place,

the cotton stand, had an old cotton stuffed chair in it, squirrels nested in it one year and had strewn cotton everywhere.

the west side

the purple stand, had purple carpet around it.

the well

the pace city road

walker hill

the high line

the garage, made the sides out of an old redwood garage door.

slippin stand

getback stand

skunk stand and buzzard stand, obvious

the tower, 24 ft tall

the derrick, or brians tall stand, 32ft to the floor

brians new stand, 40 ft to the floor. as you can see, brian thinks bigger is better.

the iron gate, cool huh VT?

strickland stand and back strickland stand

the hole

pink carpet, obvious

home, before my papaw died, if you asked where he was going in the morning, he would tell ya "home"

north end

paul tract (where all my pics in the photography room are from)

big buck stand

jollypop stand

the porch

car body stand

the creek

busch stand and bud stand, have huge plastic beer signs for tops.

anne vineyard stand

brians rogers bottom stand

wilson bottom stand

the BF1, we got a guy that hunts with us who used to be a band director at our high school. we would jokingly call him a band fag. nothing malicious meant to anyone, i play in a band myself. but anyway, he built this stand, and brian painted BF1 on the side

the "tree legged stand", we have a guy in our lease that grew up in chicago. when he tries to say "three legged stand", it comes out "tree legged stand"

the south side

the oil well site

snakeeyes stand

the gin

the dirt pile field

the persimmon tree field

four buck stand

cant think of any more, but that is 2200 acres worth and better than 50 years worth of stands on our clubs land .

Re: What\'s the best deer stand name you\'ve had?

Four corners - Took my 143" 9 pt from this one last year and the year before my brother took a half-rack and a doe on back-to-back days. Corner where a two fencelines, and the outside corner of a woods meet. Crop fields on two sides and a food plot on another.

Tree field - On a ridge in a bottleneck between a crop field and a 2-acre patch of tree seedlings we planted a few years back. My dad missed a 150" buck at 15 yds last year with his bow from here. It's a 10ft solid oak, homemade ladder stand.

Bottom field - Pretty self explanatory. grin.gif

My brother and I each have hang on stands. One is his stand, the other is mine and that's how we refer to those two. grin.gif

Most of our stands don't have names, but the places we hunt do and that how we know our stands.
