Trying to hide a layout blind

I'll am buying an Avery power hunter in a week or so and can't decide if i want the camo version or the khaki. I'll be hunting a lot of winter wheat fields and cover is limited. I thought about buying the winter wheat version of the killer weed but the photo in cabelas looks a little too light green. Any suggestions about hiding in a green wheat field. I have though about using the tall grass next to the fence line to stubble the blind, it wouldn't hide me in the wheat but would look like a pile of grass in the field.

I should also mention that i will be hunting grassy embankments next to creeks and ponds too, but stubbling the blind there shoulnd't be much of a problem.

Re: Trying to hide a layout blind

I have used those Kahki blinds on a tilled field and they worked fine. We had minimal coverage, and barely "stubbled" them. Maybe it was just the day, or maybe just dumb luck.

I would say, don't be afraid to "mud" up a solid color. You'll get a NatGear kinda feel once its dirty. The Camo is great for breaking up that solid mass.

The decision is up to you, depending on what you hunt more. The Power hunter is a great blind and you will like it! grin.gif

Just buy Rafia at a craft shop and should be able to buy it by the lb. Then get some Rit dye from your local grocery store and dy it your self and get the color you want. Even Walmart has the stuff. If you don't have a craft shop around. wink.gif
