LifeNRA
Most of you know that I just recently purchased a Summit Goliath X5. I am only 190 pounds, but I like the added room it offers! This stand weights in at 21 pounds. Not counting the three bags I just added to it! LOL! Anyways, the backpack straps that came with the stand are ok. I was out this past Saturday and went up a tree about 15 feet. My daughter and I walked about 200-300 yards down this old railroad bed. By the time I got back to the truck, my shoulders were sore! I was only wearing my T-shirt! Well Sunday I ordered the deluxe backpack straps from Summit! Mannnnnnnnnnnnnn what a difference they made the way the stand felt on my shoulders! I also got the traction strips, and the front bag. I just could not believe how much more comfortable the stand was with these new straps! I highly recommend these straps for anyone who has a Summit stand! Ok just thought I would share! LOL!

AaronS
Re: Summit Treestands I haven't tried the deluxe shoulder straps yet, I will have to do that one day. I would recommend everyone use the traction strips however. The will make standing on the base much safer in wet conditions.

buckstew
Re: Summit Treestands LifeNRA, How do you like your new stand, I am in the market for a new stand. I have never been comfortable in a climber (prefer the stability of fixed and ladder stands). However, I have never tried a summit and was curious how "solid" they feel when up a tree. [/ QUOTE ] Well being new to tree stands, and this is my first one as well. The Goliath X5 has 2-3 inches larger top section, its rated for 350 pounds. I am only 190, it feels solid to me! Now when I get up into a tree, I lock the top section with a rachet strap. It doesnt move!
tedicast
Re: Summit Treestands I had an old Loggy Bayou climber that I just sold on Ebay. First thing I did when I got my Broadhead Backpacker, was take the padded straps from the Loggy, and swap with the Summit. The straps that come with the Summit are crap. I like the idea of an additional ratchet stap on the upper piece. Thats a great idea.
LifeNRA
Re: Summit Treestands [ QUOTE ] I like the idea of an additional ratchet stap on the upper piece. Thats a great idea. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah John, the gentleman at Cabela's told me about that! I got two, but you cant get to the bottom section like I thought you could! So if you buy one, just get one! Because now I have a spare! LOL! [ QUOTE ] I ordered the Razor Stand from basspro and suppose to have it tomorrow. Can't wait to get it and try it out. I hope this movable bar is quiet. If not it's going back. [/ QUOTE ] Thats why I bought the Goliath X5, I was going to get the Viper X5, then I seen the Goliath was bigger at the top section. But the main reason I got this stand was because there are no MOVING PARTS to make noise!
